This was a gift for my 13-year-old nephew's BD last month. He loves hockey and plays on two different teams. When he opened it, he didn't seem very impressed, but that might have been because he was surrounded by some of his buddies.
I thought the book had some interesting stuff, historical trivia. He may have liked better than he let on. After all, getting a book for your BD is almost as bad as getting clothes, right?

The pictures are great inside! Our grandson loves the book! Love the pages for coloring on. Not the old times ones that don't show the colors well.

If you're just getting interested in hockey, and you're beginning to watch it on TV listen to it on the radio, this is a good starter book to have. It tells you a brief history, let you know about the rules, explains the international scope of the game, and tells you many of the greatest players to play in North America.
The book is very informative, written well and fun to read.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though I'm far from a hockey novice, I learned quite a bit that I didn't know about the history of the game, as well as interesting aspects of the equipment. This book is well written, and the authors do a great job of bringing the game to life through fascinating player and coach stories. The book expands beyond the NHL by discussing hockey leagues in other countries, as well as women and minorities throughout hockey history. Very entertaining.
