Uncomplicate Your Faith: Put Jesus First Above All with Jesus Over Everything

heartbr8kkidheartbr8kkid: The cover of this book is beautiful but… it’s pretty weak within the pages. The anecdotes are trivial and silly and I had a hard time connecting to any of them. The flow and writing style is choppy and disjointed. Most importantly, I felt as if it lacked any real “meat” when it came to Bible instruction and motivating strategies to put Jesus first. The book itself seems more like the author’s diary than helping another believer put Jesus first.

It wasn’t for me.

Katie: I can't begin to express how much 'Jesus Over Everything' has shifted the way I see myself, the Father, and our call as believers to live like Jesus. Lisa's writings have a way of making you feel like you're sitting down with a friend. This book beckons one to come up higher and challenges you in the best of ways.

As one can discern through listening to her podcast (also titled Jesus Over Everything) or by following her on Instagram, Lisa’s style is characterized by raw honesty, dry wit, and hard-hitting conviction. While her style may seem too straightforward for some, those who are looking for solid, Scriptural truths that haven’t been watered down will be well pleased with Lisa’s newest book, Jesus Over Everything.

In Jesus Over Everything Lisa attempts to “uncomplicate the daily struggle to put Jesus first.” Each chapter focuses on a “deadly over” we may become easily ensnared by in daily life, such as over indulging or over explaining. The 10 chapters focus on 9 simple, daily choices we can make that will help us put Jesus back in his rightful place in our lives- that is to say, over everything else. Some of my favorite chapters included Chapter 5: Service Over Spotlight and Chapter 9: Commitment Over Mood. But chapter 4, “Holiness Over Freedom,” was one of the most convicting pieces of nonfiction I have ever read. I have heard Lisa say that she almost left the chapter...
