pizelli: Great for HVAC use. I also use it for cooking. Because its never mentioned by UEI, the battery for this is LR44, found in most grocery stores.

Richard: I’m an HVAC technician and this is undoubtedly the best thermometer I’ve used. However I was strolling through Amazon buying some tools when this showed up. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it was being sold for almost $50. I had to check my purchase history to ensure I was in my senses. I purchased this exact thermometer on December 21st, 2023 for $29.99. In such a short time, I’m baffled as to how the price could’ve skyrocketed to $48. Mine still works great, but at this price I may have to look elsewhere if I ever lose it or it stops working. Most HVAC technicians can probably also relate to how easy it is to leave one of these behind on a job as I’ve found a few of them forgotten on job sites.

DLF: I use this to measure air temperature a the inlet and return vents of our heating system. It's a thermocouple so it isn't an instant read, but with the magnetic base and swivel on the sensor, it's super easy to stick it to the vent and position the probe between the grill slots.
Works well for this purpose. What it doesn't work well for is trying to measure temperature of smallish electronic components. The probe has too much thermal mass and ends up cooling the component so the measurement reads way low. I think an optical thermometer would be best in that case.
