TWUFY 360° Pan-Tilt-Zoom Solar Outdoor Security Cameras

cctvcctv: As a retired CCTV and Security consultant/contractor with 20 years experience in the industry,I would like to offer my opinion of the TWUFY PTZ solar powered WiFi camera. I have recently begun replacing and supplementing some older hardwired cameras in my system with WiFi cameras and since my doorbell camera was using the Cloudedge App for viewing and control, I tried to stay with manufactures of cameras that use that app since I have had good luck with it. I was a little concerned at first because the TWUFY camera was so inexpensive but as it turns out it is a sturdy camera even though built using mainly plastic. There is no bending or give to the cameras chassis at all and seems to be very well built. The packaging it came in appears to be able to withstand even the worst type of delivery driver. As for the operation of the camera, it is one of the easier ones to program and set-up and has a unique type of mounting bracket that permits mounting on a wall or even under a ledge or eve. Puravidal: I have been using the TWUFY PTZ Solar Security Camera for the past month as an additional camera to my existing security system. I was positively surprised by the build quality and heft of the camera when I first unboxed it and upon installing the appropriate control app on my cellphone was able to set it up quickly and easily. The camera boasts a lot of features that my other security cameras don’t, for example. I especially like that you can move the field of view vertically and horizontally and that it has a micro-SD slot. I installed a 64GB card and it captures all of the clips on there. I can then review them from within the app on my phone. This means that I can run this camera without having to subscribe to a monthly cloud service (although there is a monthly subscription for those that prefer cloud storage!). Other neat features include allowing you to take screenshots that save directly to your phone, a solar panel with a long cord that allows you to keep the camera charged up (as long as you have enough sunshine!), and an intercom system that allows you to listen to and talk to anyone you might spot on camera.

SchougSchoug: If all you want is to be able to access the camera from the app on your phone, this is a great camera. I love the PTZ capability (actually, only PT - no zoom). The night vision is see images for a comparison of daytime, night vision with the driveway floodlight on, and driveway with the driveway floodlight off. The resolution of night vision images is quite low. The solar panel and battery keep the camera powered at all times (though I suppose that excessive use of PTZ my deplete the battery).

However, the only way you can access the camera and your videos is through the phone app, which limits the options considerably (compared to an IP camera which supports onvif and rtsp). The (paid!) cloud storage is not documented (at least I couldn't find any documentation for it) and I have no idea how you can access what's stored there. For all I know, it's just a storage place, like your SD card (but the latter is free). To me, this is a show stopper, so I am only using this camera as a temporary solution, until I can get a power line to where it's mounted, and replace it with an IP camera.
