kris28: These units sure aren't the quality of the old Screwpull units from the 80's & 90's. However, they work just the same. An earlier reviewer mentioned how he fixed the screw when it broke loose from the top. I don't know if what I used for adhesive was the same, but it worked great. Turn the handle upside down, fill the void with 'Loctite Super Glue Ultra Liquid Control', then reinsert the screw slowly (make sure to fit the groove properly down into the upturned head) so as not to force overflow of glue out, then hold it for about a minute or two. At this point it will be stable but you'll want to set it upright between a couple of books or something, & wait 24 hours. Good as new & much better than what the manufacturer designed.

Jon M.: This is a great design. It's self aligning to a certain extent, making it easy to hit the center of the cork every time. It lacks those wings that most corkscrews have which are such a pain.
The corkscrew is long, and by continuing to turn the handle after it is fully extended it pulls the cork out of the bottle. It's a little tough to turn the handle at that point, but it's easier than the wing design. It pulls the cork almost completely, too, so it requires next to no exertion to pull the cork once the screw is fully engaged.
Removing the cork is easy, too. Simply grip it tightly by squeezing the body and turn the screw the other way.
The screw is not captive on the body, though, so you end up with a 2 piece opener. Not the best design, but still better than the common one.

Amazon Customer: Remember Screwpull? It was the simplest and best way to remove a cork from a bottle! Place the body over the bottle and drop the screw down the guide hole and twist, the cork is threaded properly and comes out smoothly. To remove the cork from the device, gently squeeze the sides and twist the other way. Simplicity itself! Unfortunately, the patent was sold and the current manufacturer does not seem to promote it, but here it is in its new incarnation! Use it once and give your drawerful of bulky, complicated, finger nipping and expensive corkscrews to the nearest recycling depot!

Masterbuilder: When my electric opener won't pull the cork, or spins endlessly... I grab this one. The shape of the corkscrew wind is nice and wide so it grabs really well. I wish the handle was not so free floating and was more integrated with lower section. But hey.... it works. Minor quibble.
