Jeff Groves: I bought the AVR900U to replace a cheap no-name UPS that failed after less than a year. It is providing battery backup for the following network equipment:

Peplink Balance 20 Router
SB6141 Cable Modem
Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway
Trendnet TE100-S16Eg Ethernet Switch
Aumox SG308P PoE Switch
Obi100 VOIP Gateway
Obi202 VOIP Gateway

There are also several small cooling fans connected to the UPS. After installing the new UPS, I let it run overnight to charge the battery. Then I disconnected it from the power to test how long it would provide backup.

It ran for 75 minutes before finally quitting. This is on a new battery, so I'll have to wait to see how long it runs after the battery gets older. I like the fact that Eaton/Tripplite provides a 3-year warranty, so if it fails before then, I can get a replacement. When the time comes, it appears that the AVR900U is designed so you can easily replace the RBC51 battery.

Unlike many other UPS, it did not continuously beep while running on battery (which is very annoying). It only started beeping about two or three minutes before the battery died.

J.L.: Bought this unit a year ago.
Started having issue less then a month in.
The unit start beeping for no reason. Need to remove the battery every time.
I have less than 100w total plugged on the battery side.
Talked to Amazon and got the issue fixed but the problem reoccurred a month later.
Ask Amazon, and they told me to contact the manufacturer.
Been sending emails for more than 6 months now (4 Emails Total)
Not a single answer from the manufacturer.
I would look somewhere else if you care about quality and consumer support.

David L.: I bought this unit in March of this year. I bought it to use as a back-up for my computer system for when the power goes out until my emergency generator kicks in (less than 2 minutes) I was using it when it simply shut down and I lost power to my system. I powered everything back up and less than a month later it shut off again, no errors or warning, just shut down. I called service and after a long fruitless discussion they told me that the battery backup couldn't support my desktop and two monitors. When I asked why there were 5 power backups, he said it was for low power objects that would related to phone and such. I had a Amazon unit that lasted for over three years with the same plug in system I had in this unit and never had a problem until the end, even having power outages. I was advised to simply plug in the desktop and if that lasted to try monitors. The reviews I read on this unit were excellent, but it is not reliable. Maybe it's just this unit, but they were not willing to even try to make things right. If you want reliablity that will handle more than a desktop don't waste your money. dborn: Good UPS for a desktop computer. Since I'm on Linux, I had to use nut which is a little harder to setup than apcupsd but I am starting to get a little tired of the decrease in quality of that other brand.
This one works well for me for this particular need at this price point.

Anonymous: I purchased this because I live in an area prone to power outages and was taking a very important certification exam online from home due to testing centers being shut down due to Covid. The strict guidelines meant if I lost internet I would automatically fail so I wanted a back up but nothing too expensive. This works like a charm. I've had it for a couple of months and every time we have a power outage my internet stays on without issue. I plan on purchasing more for the rest of the house. Our outages usually only last a few minutes and this product says it's good for up to an hour so it does the trick without any interruption at all.

The main drawback is the weight and size. It's very bulky and takes up a lot of space. It's almost impossible to hide.

Cohoman: I bought this UPS to power my cable modem, wifi router, and hubitat hub just in case of a short power outage. We usually don't get length outages, but I wanted to protect from the occasional power dips and glitches so everything doesn't reboot (and for my hubitat hub to not get a corrupted database). My setup was tested a few times so far with very short power outages and it worked fine. It would beep once when the power went out, and that was it. No loud continuous beeps or chimes.

This backup unit is pretty heavy and large. I was planning to put it behind my two-drawer credenza, but it was just too wide and thick. Instead, I have it sitting on the floor just to the side of the credenza where it operates quietly (no buzzing at all). In all, I'm very happy with my purchase and hope it will power my devices long enough to last through future short power outages.

Update (12/11/2021): I've owned this UPS for over a year now and it's been working perfectly. It lays quietly on my office floor next to my credenza and powers my WiFi router, Cable Modem, and Hubitat Hub. I've had a few power outages and it worked great, keeping my devices powered up for...

montanadave: This unit has worked flawlessly from the day I received it in October 2012 -- I use it to protect my digital mixer used for running live sound for bands -- until last week when it just would not power on after I got home from a gig. I called Triplite support today and they diagnosed a failed battery which was still under the three-year warranty so a free replacement will be here in 5-7 days. I'm a little disappointed that the battery failed so soon but am thoroughly satisfied with the friendly and helpful customer support. I'd buy again no question.
