STAIVANY: Great! works well, very practical. Use it a lot. Good buy for max 60$.
I would not pay a lot more than that since It is a very simple appliance made of just ok quality plastic.

Carol M Potasnyk: I am very pleased with this yogurt maker. I wanted one that I could use various size containers to make the yogurt and with the large lid and no partitions in the base I am able to do this. I have used it 3 times and the yogurt has come out perfect each time.

Elizabeth Shardelow: I am extremely happy with this yogurt maker. It has a larger capacity than my vintage yogurt maker and is very simple to use. One of the main reasons I chose this one was the fact that it comes with the second dome which enables one to use one's own bigger bottles for larger batches of yogurt. It would be helpful for first time yogurt makers if the instruction pamphlet also included information on how to use this yogurt maker using bought yogurt as a starter. I at first wanted to upgrade from my vintage yogurt maker to a digital one with an alarm to let me know when it was ready, however as far as I am concerned, having the 2 size options and the reasonable price made up for it.

Steven: There's nothing much too it. It works. Allows you to use large jars, which was the reason I got it. I bought it for natto making, but mostly use it for yogurt right now. The machine base is pretty much made out of flimsy platic and there are no temperature controls, which would be nice. The little manual is pretty funny. The don't actually tell you how to make yogurt, but they do manage to give a little misguided lecture on the virtues of pasturing milk!

Just a Girl: We have been using  Yogurt Maker  for almost a year now and it has made perfect yogurt every time.

We make yogurt 2 quarts at time in mason jars using the large dome lid, it is always perfect.

The recipe we use is very easy:

1/2 Gallon (2 quarts) whole milk (raw if you can get it)

1 cup dry whole milk  Nestle Nido Milk Powder, Imported, (400 gm), 14.1-Ounce Cans (Pack of 3)

2 packets of  Yogourmet Casei Bifidus Acidophilus Probiotic Yogurt Starter, 6-Count Boxes (Pack of 2)

Mix powered milk with whole milk and heat on stove in heavy bottomed pot to 180F degrees.

Remove from heat and place pot in sink filled with cold water, Ice water can be used for faster cooling. Cool to 110-115F degrees.

Remove 1 cup of milk and place in 2 cup measuring cup and add the yogurt starter, mix well to remove any clumps then return mixture back to the milk in the pot and stir well to combine.

Pour milk into your sterilized containers, we use mason jars. Place jars in the unit and place dome on top, plug in the unit and let heat for 12...

PsFs: The Yolife: I now have it and have used it once, which is why I want to say, so far - so good.

I have just returned from living 20 years in Spain, and have been absolutely dismayed at the lack of decent yogurt in the USA... unless you spend an exorbitant price for the "natural yogurts" that have only milk and live cultures. SO! Time to investigate making my own! I had a yogurt maker 25 YEARS ago, and remember the hassle of all those little jars.... Hence my excitement to find this modern generation of yogurt makers that can do large batches!

I chose the Yolife over other "large batch" makers for a number of reasons:
- the floor of the heating unit is NOT pre-molded to nestle the individual serving jars; instead it has a flat surface that ANY container can sit upon without subsequent tipping problems
- the larger dome lid is both taller AND wider to accomodate larger containers as well as those that are wider at the top than the bottom - the short lid for the individual serving jars fits to the inside of the sidewall of the heating unit, the tall lid fits to the outside of the heating unit sidewall - that is how the larger one can nest...

Joel Rakoski: This is the only yogurt maker I've ever purchased, so I don't know how good any other ones are. But for what it is supposed to do, it does a pretty good job. The heating seems pretty uneven, though. The bottom of the jars were a lot warmer than the top of the jars, and this uneven heating worried me. Also, my family goes through a LOT of yogurt every week (5 quarts), and this unit doesn't produce in the quantities that I make yogurt in. I've learned that making yogurt in a closed portable cooler works just great.

Here's how I make really delicious and stiff yogurt, 5 quarts at a time:

Materials:
* 6 wide-mouth quart mason jars with lids
* 1 cooler with lid, big enough to hold 6 mason jars, surrounded by a thick towel
* 1 thermometer capable of 115 to 200 degrees F.
* 20 8-oz containers with lids (for individual servings) if desired
* 1 stirring spoon
* 6-quart double boiler setup (a 6-quart pot and an even larger pot work fine)

Ingredients:
* 1 gallon of 1% or 2% milk
* 4 cups of condensed milk
* 5 teaspoons of unflavored gelatin
* 1 sink full of ice water
* 1 cup of yogurt culture (can use plain...
