CC: I used this yogurt maker from Country Trading Company for the first time today, and I love it! ( Previously I had only made yogurt in my InstantPot, so this is what I used for comparison.) First, the yogurt maker was a much better size for my purposes - it is compact and so does not take up much space on the counter. That being said, it only makes one quart at a time, which may be an issue for some. Second, it is very easy to use. Third, I love the simplistic functionality of the design- it’s back to basics, no need for electricity to run for hours. Sure it’s a glass jar in a stainless steel thermal container, but it works perfectly! Fourth, no repeated purchasing of yogurt in plastic containers. Lastly, it made delicious tasting yogurt! You do need a reliable thermometer to make yogurt, which is not included in the kit. I used Euro Cuisine Yogurt Thermometer-analog dial type. The overall process was faster and less cumbersome than when I used my InstantPot, so it really is a great little yogurt maker!

arabella droullard: I make a quart of yoghurt each week using this her ls bottle. When my milk has reach 180*F and is cooling to 108-112*F, I preheat the thermos and bottle with water at 112*F. After I’ve added the yoghurt culture, I empty the bottle only, and pour the cultured milk mix into it. Then I place the capped bottle into the thermos of wam water, and seal it up. I keep the thermos on my indoor plant heating pad (stays at 85*F), and10 hours later, thick creamy yoghurt.
Back in the 70s, I used to make yoghurt by wrapping a down jacket around my jar of cultured milk and praying.
This method is far more consistent.

John S.: I have one already but wanted another for more production as I particularily like the way they are used. I also like the stainless Steel cannisters for their ease of cleaning and strility.
I will buy one more as this one is slightly different in height and a different brand.
Good products!

Bren: We have a small goat herd that we milk. This product has already been used multiple times and it has only been a couple days since we received it. It is well made and we love the idea that it doesn't require electricity. The canning jar size is so perfect for us because we have an ample number of them to keep the process moving with each milking. We are considering getting a second unit since we have ample milk to process. We use yogurt in many baked goods, as a meat marinade, on baked potatoes, and in smoothies. Would recommend the product especially to a homesteader or small scale dairy farmer.

ML65: This works like a charm. It really is as simple as described: prepare your yoghurt (your own recipe or one out of the booklet), put it in the mason jar, put the jar in the stainless steel container and let it be for eight hours. Cool down in the fridge and enjoy.

Me too: It works and isn’t super expensive. I’ve been making coconut cream yogurt with monk fruit sweetener in it. The hardest part is the temps but that’s user issues on my part. The only thing is the metal outside canister doesn’t seal down or screw down super well and definitely doesn’t stay hot for all 8 hrs without hot water and towels. Overall, super glad to have!!

コアラとわたし: Amazing. Done well only one-page instructions (Guide & Recipes 'HOW TO USE' Page 8). Advised pouring warm water in the maker around a glass jar, to keep culturing temperature. See 'TEMP TIP' below the instructions. Practically I changed warm water twice during 8 hours culturing, to keep it at least near the heat of the human body. Tumbled at the kitchen, I've had a good time.

BritCrit: The instructions don't tell you how much milk to boil. I found just short of 800 ml was perfect.
They also don't tell you that a 1/4 cup of dried milk powder will help to thicken the yogurt. I learnt this from a previous electric yogurt maker I had.
I boil the milk in a large Pyrex jug in the microwave. It seems to be the easiest, fastest and less messy way. I boil the milk and dried milk powder (whisked together) for 5 mins on high and check the temperature. Sometimes it needs a couple minutes more. To bring down the temperature in 9 to10 minutes I fill a bowl with cold water and sit the jug of milk in the bowl.
Once at the correct temperature I stir in either previously made yogurt as the starter or from a new yogurt. Siggis plain yogurt is my favourite starter (my husband loves this yogurt to eat, so I steal some!)
It is SO easy to make. Once prepperdnit sits non the counter for I hours and then I put it in the fridge overnight. I love this yogurt on its own or with fruit. I don't sweeten it but you can really add whatever you want to it once it's made.
I absolutely recommend this product. I bought this when I could t find my other yogurt maker and I'll be...

Mrs. Km Millington: This was delivered yesterday & my first thought when unpacking was , it's bigger than expected but pure quality, the stainless steel container is really very smart.

After washing both items, warming the canister with hot water, set about making some yoghurt with a starter & boiled / cooled / full fat milk, then leaving for the rest of the day & overnight.......I checked after only 7 hours & nothing had happened, but jar was still warm.

This morning, I had trouble opening the canister, it's quite wide & for a small hand it would be helpful to have some sort of grip on the smooth stainless steel lid.

However on opening the jar I found beautiful smooth, tasty, Yoghurt.
It's now in the fridge as directed & will be tried later today.

I love the appearance & the idea I can fill this, leave it & not worry about remembering to switch off like my electric yoghurt maker.
As for the booklet , I haven't had time yet to read it.

All in all this is a buy I recommend , smart, easy to use & makes successful yoghurt with minimal fuss.

TwoPennyKindlesTwoPennyKindles: The media could not be loaded.  40 years ago, I got a Dairy-yo yogurt maker (made in Australia). It consisted of a 1-liter jar and a thermal container to keep the yogurt warm while it cultured. It was perfect. So I spent years trying to find more of them and found one on eBay in Australia about 5 years ago. People hold onto them so they are very hard to find on eBay.

Finally, someone has realized that it was the perfect yogurt maker and came out with a new yogurt maker based on the Dairy-yo (interestingly from New Zealand). This one has the improvement of being stainless steel.

I had one problem with this new yogurt maker: The lids were so tight I almost wasn't able to get them off the jars. I am now using rings and silicone lids (see picture). I was also not able to put the stainless steel lids back on the jars. They are engineered wrong. I am not reducing my stars for this (I would reduce by 1/2 star if I could) because I had a good/better solution.

----------
Update: I just bought two more of these yogurt makers and I had the same problem with the lids of the jars - I am totally unable to remove the steel lids from the provided jars. Enough so that...
