Lnntthmps: Trekology Trek Z (collapsible) Trekking Poles: So far, so good. It's a learning curve for sure: Practice makes perfect! The instruction manual has pretty good instructions "HOW TO" extend/set-up/use the poles for trekking (in various multiple language dialects)...But, and this is a BIG BUT...Doesn't really tell you "how to" properly collapse these Poles back down to the original (condensed) back-pack size. After all...that is primarily why I chose this specific product!
You will need to understand (make notes of your own) of "HOW TO REVERSE" the Set-up instructions, to collapse the Poles back down to the "original back-pack size" (since they don't provide break-down instructions.) Just do it in reverse...of Set-up instructions... is my advice.
Practice makes perfect: It will come with time and practice. This product is "especially designed" for the avid hard core terrain hikers/walkers. Suits most types of hiking. So far, so good...

DBBDBB: After breaking one of my Black Diamond hiking poles, decided to give Trekology a try. Just completed 5 days of hiking in Utah at Snow Canyon; Zion's Walter Wiggles and Scouts Landing trails; and Bryce Canyon's Peekapoo, Victoria, and Najavo loop trails. Steep up/down hills - I leaned on these babies for all they were worth - solid! Easy to adjust for fit, the handle grips were comfortable and didn't sweat, the velcro was great for keeping each pole together when collapsed and storing in the handy carrying bag for luggage portability.

D A: I purchased two sets of these poles for me and my wife. They arrived very quickly, just days after ordering. They collapse to a size that fit nicely in our daypacks. We purchased these walking sticks and used them for the Camino de Santiago, a 800 km trek (pilgrimage) across Spain. These poles performed flawlessly, were sturdy, and folded to a compact size when needed to store in our packs. My wife and I found that these poles assembled and disassembled easily and were very comfortable to use and extremely supportive while walking our trek. The soft and adjustable hand straps made gripping the poles comfortable. My wife and I never experienced hand or grip fatigue, using these poles for our entire journey. There is also a strip of Velcro attached to each pole which made stowing the poles in a collapsed state easy. Three of the sections are a fixed length with a fourth section that locks into an adjustable length using a quick release lever.
The only downside to these poles we experienced was a black aluminum dust that developed on the connecting points, which if we didn't wipe of periodically would get on our hands and clothes when disassembling or assembling the poles.
I...

Ian G: Telescopic poles collapsing on you when coming down a mountain? Carbon fibre ones shattering? Not good when you got 100 litres on your back.
These maybe a few grams heavier, but the construction is key. The sections "butt" against each other, which means they cannot collapse on you which is brilliant.
Aluminium, so they're not gonna shatter. The only concern is to make certain the clamp is properly tightened..... easy done!
Grips feel like cork. Though cork is easily dented and damaged. Too many people scream about cork but the FACT is, with today's technology, there is no difference whatsoever (do the research). In terms of abuse and longevity, they will outlast cork. They actually feel warm to grip and feel just like cork too.
Very small and compact. I carry a fair bit weight, I'm not one of these lightweights (if your a grams freak them look elsewhere). I wanted something reliable to put full body weight on while carrying a fully laden 100litre Sabre Bergen coming up and down mountains in the Lake District. These poles I trust. They won't shatter or collapse on me, the few extra grams is irrelevant compared to my safety. They are very compact and sturdy and what I...

Just Some Woman: Like a lot of people, I have bought these because I have joint problems but don't want that to curtail my enjoyment of a walk. The thought of getting them hadn't occurred to me until someone who has recently had both her hips and knees replaced mentioned that she used them before her ops, and then the next day an advert came up for them, and I convinced myself it was a sign! After some research, I was really quite excited about the proven statistics as well as the anecdotal claims, so here I am.
I read reviews first, of course, and am indebted to the person who complained they were too long, because, obviously like them, I wouldn't have realised they come in different lengths. A quick Google told me the correct size for my height.
They're quite nice looking with the cork grips, and come in a carry bag which will pop into my rucksack pocket. I thought, when they arrived, that the cable was detached from the handle, but then realised they're supposed to be like that.
I wish I had bought these 20 years ago, because I probably wouldn't have the joint issues that I have now. They reduce a lot of the impact on hips, knees and ankles, and, even if you're just using one while...

Earthling: These are a little tricky to align and assemble at first, but it gets easier after you've done it a few times. They are also very compact for collapsible trekking poles which is what I was looking for. I am not a hardcore hiker/climber and do not intend to put my full weight on them so I'm hoping these will last a while. This kit comes with a carrying/travel bag and some attachments for various types of hiking. The bag is great for storing the attachment especially when they get dirty. The rubber attachments have metal disks inside probably to keep the pole's spike from going all the way through. Be sure to check that those are in place before using those rubber pads. My biggest concern was the rubber pads falling off after a few uses, but that hasn't happened, yet. I will update my review if that happens; otherwise, I'm happy with them so far.
I read a review about problems with the straps on the handles - something about the wedge/insert coming out and causing the straps to come undone. I have not experienced that issue. The wedge/insert is physically attached to one end of the strap and it wraps around a metal dowel inside the handle. Pulling on the loop of the strap pulls...

Kindle Customer: They fold up to about 15 inches long versus 26 inches for my other trekking poles and fit in a backpack or medium suitcase! Great handles and the rubber tips are so helpful on rock surfaces.
Pay attention to the length options as the longer ones were too long for me even though I am quite tall. Exchanged them for these with no hassles.
