sage cat: Being 77 and new to walking sticks, adjustability that did not require a degree in engineering or lots of finger strength was key. They arrived, I opened the box, took out the directions and did not need four letter words to get them ready for use. Loved the markings on the inside of the shaft to guide height adjustment and noticed that I could make a minor adjustment by only adjusting one of the two sections. I attached the mud discs and then put the rubber tip back on….figured that would guarantee I would have them when needed. Now if I can only condition my body to walk appropriately. Hoping to avoid sliding down muddy hills.

J. F. Herlocker Jr.: We bought our hiking poles months before we went on a cruise with "moderate to strenuous" excursions in Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. They were easy to use from the beginning, and my wife and I "broke them in" (actually, we trained ourselves on using them) while hiking on local trails. The qualities we like best are their easy portability and their sturdiness.
Suggestion for those who buy these: They are light and easy to carry fully collapsed, so if you think you MIGHT be able to use them, BRING THEM ALONG. There were two excursions where we left them behind because we anticipated terrain that was flat or easy; in one case the "historic hill" was rock and gravel, and in the other case (mud flats in the Bay of Fundy at low tide) the flats were flat... but the rocks getting down there were slippery and steep! The poles fold up and have their own bag that slings easily, and we wish we had taken them along more often "just in case."
Now we STILL use the poles when we go hiking locally! We tackle trails we would never have tried before, and the poles give us confidence.

Ekaterina Arshavskaia: Bought the sticks to start my hiking journey. It was easier to adject the height than I expected, they are also very light. Two issues I found were: 1. It does not fit into my regular backpack, so I need to carry them separately or to attach them to the backpack with straps. The sticks have their own carry bag, so it is not a big deal, but I would appreciate a smaller size. 2. When you sweat heavily and want to take your hands off the loops, they sort of stick to your hands and get loose, so I needed to readjust them multiple times.

C. RinnertC. Rinnert: I say “
Probably “ because I am new to using poles. I have a pair of Montem ultra strong ( carbon) and after using a few times I realized I needed these in my life . Where they are not the most $$ they were at a higher price point than these . I wanted to have a back up pair and honestly , wanted to check out what the aluminum world was all about without going in debt . They are slightly heavier than my other poles but I’m not a back packer so it’s no big deal for me . I have to say I spent a lot of time today fiddling with the pole straps and the secondary position isn’t as comfy as my other poles but not bad. No blisters or rubbing after 5 miles . However , I can tell the difference in the cork on the handle. These I could feel my sweaty hands a bit more and they aren’t quite as soft.
I love the telescope feature and the clips seemed sturdy. I did 3 miles climbing straining up and about 2 downhill and no issues with them slipping or collapsing . There’s definitely more vibration with aluminum. Over all good set of poles for the price .
Again , I’m new so take this review for what it’s worth ;)

Steve Goacher: I was a little sceptical about the use of walking poles in general and didn’t want to spend a few hundred pounds on them for my wife and I to experiment with. After a lot of research online, we decided on a set of Trail Buddy poles each. I cannot begin to describe how incredible they are! Very easy to assemble and adjust, fold down to an easily manageable length and are very solid and reliable in use. We watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to correctly use them and have been hiking with them regularly ever since. In fact, I can’t imagine setting off for a walk without them. We can walk further and faster than ever before - and we are in our seventies! What’s more, they give us so much more confidence, it’s like upgrading yourself to a 4x4 hiker. We originally thought we’d progress onto more expensive carbon fibre poles if we got on with these, but that notion has gone completely. We will stick with these Trail Buddies until we need to replace them with another set of the same poles. Great product and great seller. Would recommend both.

JOE: I bought these hiking poles in early 2018 to use for stability while walking or hiking so I don't have to use a cane or crutches. I have been using them a few times a week for more than a year now, and I really like them.
I am a 49 year old man who was disabled and forced into medical retirement at 34 years old following a parachuting accident in the Army. I have complex injuries at multiple levels throughout my spine and hips, and I've had 3 spinal fusion surgeries over the past 16 years. Chronic pain and muscle spasms are a constant part of my life, as are instability, sudden weakness, and endurance issues. Those all are obstacles I did not have to manage in my youth. I grew up as a 4-sport athlete and manual laborer who went everywhere on a bicycle. After high school, I was both a full-time Army soldier (Infantry and Field Artillery) and part-time college student raising a family and enjoying an active lifestyle heavy on fitness, sports, fun and excitement. After sustaining widespread injuries to such critical structural parts of my body, I have been struggling in what feels like a totally different life in a different body trying to adjust to the countless changes.
