Tamara Dickinson: Great book! Keeps you entertained so you don’t want to stop reading. Recommend reading this one if it’s your type of book.

Lindsey Cattau: I really enjoy her books. She’s become my go to for suspense. This one had some weird plot twists but I am proud to say I figured out who the killer was early on in the book. It was a bit longer than it needed to be, but it was still good.

BluGrandma: But the ending was worth the struggle. Plot development was slow and thick like amber maple syrup. The main character was interesting, flighty, amusing, and unique..though I often found her impossible and frustrating.

Amazon Customer: I enjoyed this book very much. The things we really don't know can be behind the most innocent of things.

Adele S.: There is a lot of great development in this for the characters, setting and plot. There is also, at times, too much detail and drama woven in. While everything weaves together in the end and I truly do like Mickie, it's a lot. I likely would have gotten bogged down in the words if I only read it, but I bought the audio book and that really help me tear into this. This would have been an absolute 5 star read if the focus had remained on Mickie's work with Memory Bank and her dawning realization of the true meaning of the mementos she was archiving for Nadia. That was more than enough for this story and I loved all of it.

The truth about Mickie's family just felt a plotpoint too many for this story. I'm sure there's meant to be some contrasting with how she turned out versus Dexter and Riley despite them all having been unknowingly "adopted" as children, but was that twist needed for her to see that truth about Dexter and Riley? I think it could have been left out. Everything was obviously well-plotted and written by the author, though, so I can't fault them for sticking to their vision when they were definitely able to bring it all together.

Rabid Reader: Beautiful Things Curiosities is a store filled with mysteries, musty memories and mementos of murder. Little does Michaela Lambert, a digital archeologist from The Memory Bank, realize the mess she's just agreed to record.

These Toxic Things: A Thriller, written by Rachel Howell Hall is a rich story gliding across racial, class, social and gender lines capturing the love of families, the terror of lost souls and the redeeming stability of people who love each other.

"I store that kiss in my soul’s medicine cabinet. Like before, it will heal any future hurts", Michaela thinks as she remembers her Mother's parting gift. The author writes authentically about feelings, deep, personal, scary feelings most people won't even allow themselves to think.

Don't mistake my comments, this is a brilliant thriller, full of slippery suspects, slowly building suspense and nerve deadening horror. Once you start reading, you will never be able to put this down until you're done.

The glorious parts of These Toxic Things are in the dialogues, both within Michaela's head, and between all the other characters.

Carley: I really enjoyed this book. It took a minute to get into it and wrap my head around all that was happening. As usual in books, so much happened all at the end that the build up felt almost too long for how it ended. Once I got into it, I could not put it down. Read most of it in a day!

Marika: Un altro bel thriller di questa autrice.
I miei preferiti rimangono i primi 4 libri della detective Lou, ma anche questo ha tenuto alta l'attenzione fino alla fine.

Another exciting thriller by this author. I love her books, even though my favorites are the first 4 books she wrote, where the main character was detective Lou. This one kept my attention high until the end

Happy: Nicely written, a few twists and turns to this story. For me one section of the book gave me a good idea as to who the murderer was so wasn't surprised at the end. Worth a read.
