I have a relatively shallow nano tank (around 8 inches tall), which makes finding a skimmer that looks good, very hard. I was looking for some glass skimmers to go with my outflow lily pipe but those things are all 11inch or longer, so when I found this arcylic one that was cheap I got pretty excited.
The whole thing is made of Arcylic which is nice. The form factor is a bit weird (you all know what it looks like) but the sponge in the filter intake is a nice touch for shrimp holders.
I had two issues with it. I managed to solve one (Yay Arcylic + heat) and another one is pretty minor for now.
1. My first issue was the fact that the skimmer pipe was blocking the intake pipe because my aquarium is shallow. I managed to fix it by heating up a knife and just cutting out a part of the skimmer pipe to make it shorter. This is definitely a none-issue for people that have deeper aquariums.
2. The other issue is there is no locking mechanism for the filter hose, so I can see it becoming loose in the future.
