The Family Upstairs & the Family remains being my introduction. Both got me hooked from the start.
Then She Was Gone was my pool read on holiday, lets just say I didn’t swim much for a couple of days!
Had me hooked.
It is a bit sad and haunting (found myself going into deep thought during and after reading) but absolutely brilliant.
I thought i had guessed the ending, so was a bit disappointed it was going to be predictable, couldn’t have been more wrong :)

Sam: Had me up reading into the wee hours, only took me a few pages & I was fully invested! With each chapter I had to know more & more! I think this is the 3rd book I've read by jewel over the years & she is without a doubt one hell of an imaginative, captivating writer!! I'm always hopeful another of her books with be on sale, not that they aren't worth the money it's just I have to watch the pennies. Can't recommend this book enough!

Ms. C: I read this book in one day. I simply could not put it down. The premise is inconceivable yet so well-crafted that I felt it completely plausible in the end. This is the 2nd book by Lisa Jewell I’ve read and am officially a fan.

Katie: This was a fast read but not for me. I found it disturbing and sad. Yes, the ending was good as was the twist at the end but I could have done without the details.

JLo: I wish I could give this a 4.3! It was really good, loved the poetic language and imagery. I thought the ending was a little abrupt in regards to one major plot twist. I agree with one reviewer, at about half way I thought ohh I see where this is going, and had to re evaluate continuing. Ultimately, I am glad I did. This book will stay with you and haunt you, definitely a page turner.

JanaeJanae: This book took me a bit to get into, but once I did- I could not stop. Yes, you will learn things and know the outcome of the story probably long before the story ends but there are still surprises and turns throughout. Such a good read!! If you are looking for a thriller with mystery and heart break this is your book.

Clairey 🤍: I loved this book. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump this past week. Starting a ton of books and not being able to stick with them. I’ve had Then She Was Gone on my tbr for the longest time. I cannot believe I took so long to read this!
I was hooked from the beginning of the book, Lisa Jewell’s writing has a way of sinking it’s claws into you & not letting you go till you turn the last page.
Some of the twists were pretty predictable (hence the 4.5 stars instead of 5) but… There were one or two others I absolutely did not see coming. The characters in this book were written so so well. Although the book ends with ultimately a happy ending. The prologue had me tear up. 💔 Bittersweet.

AngeliqueAngelique: I have extremely mixed feelings about this book. It started out very similar to Lovely Bones, which isn’t what I was looking for but I was curious and it kept my attention. However, about 3/4ths to 2/3rds of the way through I stared to get the vibe of the direction that the book was going and I didn’t like it. At that point, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to keep reading it and I stopped for about a week. I decided to give it another chance and after a few more chapters, I still didn’t love the vibe but I was interested again. I didn’t fully expect it to end the way it did and I ultimately think the ending was great and I am glad that I finished the book.
