Ellie Scothern: I'm absolutely loving this series, as a middle aged woman myself I am half expecting the magic to find me too!!! (really hoping for it!!!) I love the Jessie/Austin situation and I really ebony the banter between Mr Tom and Nieve!! Cant wait to read more, so I won't, enjoy!!! x

Jill jennings: As Jess continues to grow in her magic she must also navigate her family visiting , as well as discovering the houses vulnerabilities. This was another engaging installment to this series , which I am hooked on and loving !
You definitely need to start at the beginning for this series as each book builds on the last one .

Giggles: I'm loving this series. Must read in order. The characters and the adventures are fun and fantastical. The parents are very amusing. Enjoy the story and disconnect from reality for a while.

Sianny banany: Jessie’s parents come to visit at the absolute worst time, and the joint efforts of everyone trying to keep them from learning the truth is entertaining to say the least.
Her parents are nuts though so they basically fit right in with all the other insanity. And the things her dad can rationalise…I mean it’s kind of astonishing.
I love the romance bubbling between Jess and Austin but I’m getting lady/reader blueballs over here now! Each of them too scared to give into their feelings for one reason or another. Austin just needs a kick up his butt and they’ll be pure fire. I’m really hopefully for the next book with Love in the title!! Because Austin is basically perfection so far and I need Jess to lock that down.
Totally off topic but obviously incredibly pressing question: if Edgar’s clothes magically change with him when he becomes a swarm of insects, does that mean each little bug is wearing a tiny replica of his outfit? Like if you caught one, would it be wearing tiny purple sweatpants?

Kimberly: Jessie's parents come to visit!!
When Jessie gets an unexpected visit from her parents, she panics. She can't let them find out about her newfound magic or the truth about Ivy House. But when they show up with coolers of their own food and a few suitcases, with a vague answer about how long they are staying; she truly starts to worry.
Her mom and Mr. Tom begin to fight over the kitchen and cleaning duties. And Ivy House starts playing tricks on her parents: like bringing out the dolls around the house, opening the secret tunnels, and changing the woodwork when she wants to. Her father refuses to believe anything is remiss, especially when he sees Austin shift back from his polar bear to a human. Nothing taxes him.
When Elliot Graves brings war to the house, Jessie wants to put her parents in the tunnels. They decide to fight with shotguns instead. Afterwards, her mom concedes that its magic, her dad believes she's joined a cult.
Meanwhile, things with Austin have heated up but he puts the brakes on it. After what happened the last time he was in a relationship, he refuses to go down that road again.
A must read!

mmmurdoog: A good, paranormal-and-urban fantasy. Jessie's parents have come to visit. She, Austin, and the crew tip-toe around them, but Elliot Graves is making another move against her. Plenty of action and confusion: similar to the previous titles. The author continues to string the readers along concerning Jessie's growth in her powers to rival Elliot Graves and her relationship with Austin.
As the series is called "Leveling Up," this fits an RPG (role-playing game) format. It is common for this style to have no ultimate goal. Just becoming more powerful to defeat more powerful opponents. There may not be a terminal point. Read at your own risk.

anca moldovan: Funny, witty, easy to read, the magic a pretext for human behavior.
I look forward for the next book. The odd characters are well sketched.

Precise Disarray: I am up to date with the story, and really enjoyed everything I read. I dont rehash what I read (not a book report here), but just my overall impression. Fun thing about reading, what we choose and enjoy is highly subjective. Something you love, I may fine stupid. Something I love you may not be able to handle. Whatever. Give something a try and move on.
The Levelling Up series was not something I expected to like. I had learned of this book on a random FB sponsored ad. I dont recall what drew me to it, but let me tell you none of this is my typical genre to read from. I think it was the appeal of reading of a character in her 40s. I'm in my 40s. Nice to see the main star to be someone outside the typical 20 something. Figured I'd give it a go, and if I didnt like it I have the option to stop, yes?
The first chapter was meh. Though, I tend to be a little snarfy when I first begin a new book. Takes a little to get into it. But then once it started rolling, I was so very much hooked. I think once I realized that the writer can write, can flesh out detail, can give life to not only main characters, but give a lot to side characters, and I can imagine the surroundings so...

CMC: Another fun and riveting read. I liked when Jess’s parents turned up and she said, ‘Hide!’
I also liked the relationships and sense of community being offered at Ivy House.
Look forward to the next read.
