Lloyd H.: Very informative book

Kevin Daniely: This book explains the origins of Paganism as so practiced by the church. It explains Nimrod the son of Cush. It explains the holidays that are celebrated in modern times. I would recommend for people who can understand our current system of things.

Ron: The book's content is good but the font style and size of the printed text is not so pleasurable to read. It's like from a century old text which has been directly photocopied.

M. Lopes: This book and author have fallen into a much controversy and many have tried to discredit it.

However, as a former practitioner of paganism and the occult myself, and my knowledge of the catholic faith and what they openly say of themselves, this book is right on the money. If perhaps not 100% perfect, it is at least 90% there.

Even the Churches own writings and bishops of prominence have confessed and even today still confess that Catholicism can rightly be called "baptised paganism", inheriting pretty much everything except for the names of the deities from the pagan world. So I do not know why people have tried to poo hoo this book so much. A stellar job Hyslop has done here.

Some Quotes to demonstrate my position...

"The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees; incense, lamps, and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water; asylums; holydays and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields; sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the East, images at a later date, perhaps the ecclesiastical chant, and the Kyrie...

Tom: "Cush was the father of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in Shinar. From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city." - Gen 10:8-12.

The Bible refers to Nimrod only fleetingly but in "The Two Babylons, or The Papal Worship, Proved to be the Worship of Nimrod and His Wife" (Loizeaux Brothers, 1959) Alexander Hislop (1807-1865) sets out to prove that Nimrod and his wife, Semiramis, were the inspiration for the important pagan religions of antiquity. He argues that a slew of deities including Adonis, Apollo, Attes, Baal-zebub, Bacchus, Cupid, Dagon, Hercules, Januis, Linus, Mars, Merodach, Mithra, Moloch, Narcissus, Oannes, Odin, Orion, Osiris, Pluto, Saturn, Tammuz, Teitan, Typhon, Vulcan, Wodan, Zoroaster, along with Aphrodite, Artemis, Astarte, Aurora, Bellona, Ceres, Diana, Isis, Juno, Mylitta, Proserpine, Rhea, Venus, and Vesta can be traced to the Babylon mystery cult...
