Rhiannon CampbellRhiannon Campbell: If you were expecting any level of sophistication in this book you will be disappointed. It has some interesting information but I quickly developed a strong dislike for the disjointed formatting (think frequent random half pages) and I found the prolific use of exclamation points in a non-fiction book to be condescending if not outright juvenile.
I would have liked to see specific discussion of the pictured artworks and artefacts; they were often described as something that an untrained eye can't see or appreciate, which make the pictures seem out of context or even misnamed.
I'll finish the book but will probably give to my son for his 6th grade history project. I won't buy another one from the "Enthralling History" series.

CampbellWill: It is a good book but more or less a “ cliffs notes “ on the subject. Very Superficial without any in depth study of the subject. Better books are available.

Jones Family: Really enjoyed this history of the Aztec Empire!
Was written very well with great maps and photos.
We learn a lot about the Spanish Conquest of the Aztec Empire in school, but not much on the origins of the Aztecs. Also, really liked how the author tied in the Olmec, Toltecs, and other native Mesoamerican empires related to the Aztec Empire. The details on how the Aztec tribe grew into the Aztec Empire was fascinating.
Keep up the great work.

Jan Aiyulian: Excellent work that combines thoroughly researched history with an engaging narrative. I didn't know much about the Aztecs before reading this book, and now I feel like I have an excellent perspective of their culture -- not only theirs but other cultures like the Olmecs, Chichimecas and even the Spanish friars. I love how personal stories were woven in -- like the shipwrecked Spaniard who went native with tattoos and piercings, or Cortes murdering his wife -- it lifts history off the page.

Irial Ofarrell: As an introduction to the Aztecs, it was easy to read and gave a good explanation of the rise and fall of the empire. I liked that it contextualised the empire in what came before.
I had no idea as to the advanced nature of their civilisation
