Rob: I didn’t know jack about mostly plants and had been raised on a steady diet of veal and bacon my whole life. Greens made me pretty sick at first but now I can actually make it to the mailbox without calling an ambulance for help so my quality of life has improved greatly.

Mary K.: This book makes eating "mostly plants" attainable. The pantry/refrigerator basics lists as well as the indispensable tools list is useful for a not-exactly-knowledgeable cook. I just want us to eat healthier and this cookbook is helping us do that. The recipes are clear and the shopping list at the bottom of each is extremely useful. Plus it's just a lovely, high-quality cookbook. Very happy with this purchase.

Micaela Streeter: We've made close to a dozen recipes from this cookbook and all have been delicious (many were even popular with our kids). Highly recommend this cookbook. Recipes are easy to follow and don't have too many ingredients that are difficult to find.

Ash S.: I've made a few recipes, so far, and am not disappointed. This is a beautiful book with great pictures and details for each recipe. I love the Sage Advice and Thyme-Tested Shortcuts, the guides and tips, and the personal stories of the family. My husband is a big-time meat eater and I am just a sometimes meat eater. Thank goodness my husband also enjoys vegetables otherwise I'd never be able to make dinner work (and quite possibly the marriage) This cookbook offers wonderful dishes of all types and it truly fits a "flexitarian" eating lifestyle. It's pretty perfect, really, for the differences in eating that is so common among each of our family members.

My only issue with the book, and the reason for the 4-stars and not 5, is that it is tightly bound, moreso than others in my cookbook arsenal. Others have commented on this in their reviews, as well. It's no joke. The book is thick and heavy, and does not stay open on the countertop for one to read along. Not even a little. I purchased a stand for it that has two, strong, metal holders so that I can prop the book and keep it open. It's not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if that wasn't necessary. R&B Bracebridge, Ontario: I've made 4 recipes so far and all have been excellent. Well-written, nicely laid-out, beautiful pictures. A good way to reduce your meat-intake and increase your vegetable intake without being too restrictive. The only trouble I have with the book is keeping it open to the page I'm working on.
