Jesus Beach Girl: I chose to listen to this book on audiobook and so glad I did. The narrators did a fabulous job of bringing The Word of God alive. Since this is not the entire Bible, I don’t recommend reading or listening to it in place of The Bible. The Story was put together well.

harshanharshan: This book is divided into 31 chapters with timelines, maps and brief description of characters. The content was good and worth reading to get a overview but the cutting of the pages was not good. So don't be shocked if you get irregular papercuts on one side. You can trim it off and level it to a certain extent with a blade if you can which I did.

john bruce: There are plenty of challenges to exploring the Bible, not least the early part of the Bible the 5 books of the Torah, which were very likely to have been passed on by word of mouth, oral tradition, in culture very very different culture to ours, often fighting for survival against the elements and the neighbours , for 600 years or more before ever being written down. The later books of the New Testament were even then most probably collected from oral tradition and fragments and collections of the sayings of Jesus of Nazareth, as well as the letters, between 40 and 80 years later than the incidents on the ground.
None of it corresponds to the scene of a public figure speaking today and by tea time it is written down for the online newspaper, not to mention several video records of his or her speech or actions. The 'Recordings' we have of the words and actions of characters in the Bible are very very long distance from the original incident.
We can easily get locked in two options in our response to the Bible, sitting in judgement in comfortable 21st Century armchairs .
