kh: This book has some nice recipes but more geared to adorable decorations. It shows the decorating steps in detail so almost anyone can do it

material-girl: I love this cook book and how it's laid out, lots of step by step pictures for all of the recipes and there are some really great ideas. The reason for 4 stars is because the pound cake recipe for the chemistry lab cake is totally wrong, she also has a youtube video for making the chemistry lab cake but in the video she suggests using Betty Crocker super moist cake mix which when I attempted the second time worked much better than the terrible pound cake recipe (I suggest using a metal ball pan instead of the pyrex bowl she suggests in the book) I also made the apple pie pie which tastes absolutely delicious and I've uploaded some pictures of the result.

BlackflyBlackfly: My daughter is a big fan of Ro & Nerdy Nummies, so she was happy to receive this cookbook as a gift. She loves flipping through it to look at the pictures, but she's too young to make the recipes by herself. She would probably rate the book 5 stars for being excellent eye candy, but as a cook book, I would rate it 3 stars because the instructions aren't great. So, our average rating is 4 stars.

Together my daughter & I tried our first recipe from the book - the Nerdy Nummies Smart Cookie. The cookies turned out all right (see photo), but I think there are some important details missing from the recipe. The rest of this review lists the things I found frustrating about this particular recipe.

First of all, the recipe doesn't say how many cookies it yields, so you really don't know how many eyeglasses to make ahead of time. I guesstimated we'd need about 30, but that wasn't enough, especially since they were quite fragile and a bunch broke when we peeled them off the waxed paper.

Although the template for the eyeglasses appears at the back of the book, they aren't labelled with the name of the cookie, so I wasn't sure which eyeglasses were the right ones...

Glenn Courington: My daughter discovered Nerdy Nummies while getting her weekly infusions, so we knew that she would love this cookbook. We got to meet Ro a few months later, and one of the things she told us was that she really wanted to make a cookbook for the visual learner, and this book is exactly that. The book is chock full of pictures, showing at each stage of the recipe or procedure what the instruction should look like. This is great for kids or those who don't have a lot of experience with baking, as it give them a good idea on what it supposed to be. . The book is completely in the style of the Nerdy Nummies show, with the recipes sectioned into themes that all have the "nerdy" flair to them, such as Math & Science, Space, and Gaming, so it's easy to find what you are looking for. Ro's charm exudes throughout the pages, so if the reader is a fan of the show, they will love the book. The recipies are for the most part not too difficult, although the decorating can be a bit taxing, especially for the young kids that are drawn to Nerdy Nummies. However, with a little practice, even my 8-year-old has made several of her recipes already.

My daughter reads over this book almost...

Alleyooptoo: Great book, but a little pricey. It has both basic cooking principals and basic recipes, as well as the 'nerdy' fun recipes Rosanna Pansino is known for. Aside from the price, it's a nice quality, well written book, and has lots of great pictures with easy to follow, step by step, instructions. I bought this for my 21 year old daughter as a birthday present because she loves Rosanna's blog, and despite the price, she really wanted to support Rosanna's efforts. I like the book too, but it's such a nice hardcover book, that after paying over $40 for it, I would hate for it to get dirty or damaged actually using it in the kitchen. Personally, I would have preferred the book to be a little smaller and coil bound so it can lay flat and stay open on it's own, which would also have made it less expensive. It's for these reasons that I only gave it 4 stars. If you don't mind the price and it being hardbound, it's a great book.

Grimesy: I love Rosanna Pansino and her funny challenges and her funny personality and especially her baking!! I love all her funny and inspiring creations. I wanted this the day it came out! I'm so glad I got it. I like how she got it all separated in different sections and in it, she is all dressed up which is really cool. It is very smart that their are templates in the back too. I have so many things I like about this book but I can't write it all. So, in a nutshell...this book is pretty amazing if I do say so myself. I would definitely get it if I were you. Love it!!

Jeff the aeroE: Another 5 star review! Hopefully this helps you know a bit more what you're getting. If you don’t know anything about this book, you’ll want to check out the Nerdy Nummies YouTube channel, where she has videos of how to make all of these recipes. The cookbook is simply another convenient format for people that want fast access to some of her more popular recipes.

INTO:

Nerdy Nummies is the first book created by 'Ro' off of the youtube channel Nerdy Nummies where she makes nerdy style things to eat or drink like from video games, or outer space. Her show has even featured the past CEO of Nintendo and Neil deGrasse Tyson, which is pretty fun.

THE SECOTIONS:

-To start, there’s a list of everything you may end up needing. You should probably just get these as needed.

-Immediately after that there is a basics section where Ro shows how she makes most of the basic desserts. The 3 I’ve made so far have been phenomenal, (brownies, chocolate cake, pound cake). You do want to make sure you’re using quality ingredients for things like flour and coco, you’ll taste them in the end. This section makes the book worth it, it’s so hard to find a...

Akitan: You will love this book.

While some of the reviews state this is a just a children's cookbook I have to harken back to her channel. She is not a professional. She is someone who just loves to decorate, bake, and enjoy herself.

Format of recipes:

My, at this time, 5 year old daughter and I read these together and bake together and how she's laid out the recipes has both of us saying "Let's get started" I'm very happy to see that the book was kept in the same lighthearted nature that we've grown so fond of on her channel. Nothing seems intimidating and it also gives good base recipes to use in our own nerdy, geeky or wacky creations.

There are recipes in here not shown on her channel which I has me wanting to take the simpler ones and let my daughter at it. Likewise she has some channel recipes that she's improved on and the results are an even better end product.

Hardcover vs digital:

I opted to buy a few hard copies. Some as gifts and one for ourselves (was lucky enjoy to meet her and get them signed early Christmas present for the little one). I know myself to be a bit ... picky with the upkeep of my books. I nearly cries when I saw how...

Carighan Maconar: Well, I've been following her Youtube videos for a long time, so ofc I had to get the cookbook.

The printing quality is top-notch, the book is heavy, solid, paper is thick, seems suitably stain-resistant for a cookbook, and the color is good (important due to the rather elaborate decorations).
The recipes are - ofc - Nerdy Nummies recipes, and if you like what she does on the show, you'll like the ones which have been added for the book. In addition she has a short section with "base" recipes at the front, which makes things easier. Can't wait to get to trying some out.

However, two points of (minor) criticism and why I gave only 4 stars:
- The index could be better. The listing at the bottom of the intro pages isn't as helpful as it should be, and maybe coloring the edges of the pages in the color of the chapter would have made it easier to navigate.
- The measurements are ofc all in imperial units. The book contains a conversion table at the end, yet I would have prefered the measurements to be given in two columns in the recipes, or flat out a metric version.

Those two are really minor though. The book is great, can readily recommend it. I will go...
