Nicola J. SmartNicola J. Smart: Interesting history and introduction to the subject but that’s where the good stuff ends.
There’s nothing “big” about this book with barely 50 pages to it.
I think we can all agree the area we want to use this technique is the face. Well then definitely don’t make the mistake I did with this book. The face isn’t mentioned at all, in fact the highest it goes is the neck!
There are a few interesting things it mentions that you could use this for but then doesn’t tell you how to do it!
Utterly pointless and definitely not worth the high price tag for such a thin book.

Kat: It's a good book but it didn't really address relying knee pain

M: Lately I've been learning about the traditional folk medicine of Gua Sha, and incorporating it into my and my family's wellness, care, and healing. I felt like I exhausted all the websites I could find about the topic and turned my attention to old fashioned books. The Big Little Book of Gua Sha kept appearing in my searches so I gave it a chance.

And I am glad I purchased the book! An alternative title could be Gua Sha 101. It covers all the basics on the history and applications of Gua Sha as a healing modality. A rudimentary knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, or even Ayurveda, is good to have in order to get a deeper understanding of this practice, but it's not required in order to make use of the techniques. The book is a fast and light read, and peppered with humor, so it makes for pleasant reading; there is no dry and technical jargon to worry about.

If you are new to the healing art of Gua Sha then you need this book!

Stefanie: It was a great beginners guide to Gua Sha. The book has lots of pictures and as i am a very visual learner it helped me preform several successful gua sha treatments following the guide.

Amazon Customer: Very good introduction in Gua Sha treatments.
Very good for tendinitis treatments.

Brett Kincaid: Great overview. There isn't a ton to this and much will only come with experience. The biggest thing is that it's very clear on the paths and directions you do the strokes. If you know anything about lymph drainage massage then you know the importance of paths and directions. I'd have liked it better for $15 instead of $20, but that's economics. Not a lot of great books out there on this subject. Worth the money though.

R. Sanchez: I bought this book in order to understand what I need to do in using my set of buffalo horn and jade tools, mainly for my broken wrist area. The book is straightforward with clear diagrams and drawings but as with anything of this nature, you learn by doing and you build our expertise with time and repetition. I am not a therapist and never will be one but I wanted the basics for myself. Most of what is here is online on youtube and on various websites. There is an advantage, tho, in having it under one cover and in portable form. I was not wowed by the book and 90% of the information about Gua Sha the whole body does not pertain to my issue or area of the body needing Gua Sha or scraping, the wrist and hand.

GL: Without any experience, I was able to easily understand how to perform one of the Gua Sha remedies in the specific areas of the body related to providing relief to a cold/flu. In one treatment on my partner, who was suffering intense cold/flu symptoms, hefelt immediate relief from sneezing, congestion in his chest and head and within less than 8 hours, all the cold/flu symptoms had completely gone. Many thanks and blessings to the authors for sharing this wisdom in such a simple, easy to understand format.
