Michelle Ballou: This is second book I read by this author, great right down to the details about the helicopter flight crew! I love the white mountains and hiked them for many years!

roadtripper: This is an intense rescue story. I enjoyed it a lot (probably just as much as his other book). A lot of mistakes were made by the victims, and it's important to read books like this to learn from them.

tkmomhal: After reading "This is Where You'll Find Me", I couldn't wait to read Ty's second book. I love "The Last Traverse" even more than a loved "This is Where You'll Find Me". The White Mountains are my stomping grounds, so I already had a fondness for these mountains. Ty has done a wonderful job of developing the characters so we really understand who they are and appreciate their love of the mountains. He makes us realize that even well trained, very experienced hikers sometimes make bad estimations and bad decisions that can have disastrous impact on how a situation plays out. He helps us to understand the factors that can impact the decisions made and how each successive decision can impact the next. Once again, Ty shows us what goes into a mountain rescue and shows us the complexities of pulling it all together and keeping the rescuers safe. This book is a must read for anyone who hikes the White mountains (or any mountains for that matter). It teaches us valuable lessons that help us remember that the mountains will always be there , but we must be cautious and know when to push on and when to bail. Thank you Ty for another spectacular read!

Jeff-ADK: I thought this would be a good over-the-winter pass-time book. I could not put it down and found myself putting other things off to read it. Tragedy, heroics, perseverance all bundled in one.
