C. D.: Review- A Girl From Nowhere (The Firewall Trilogy Book 1) by James Maxwell

As a reader I enjoyed the story and can I just add I was friggin thirsty the entire time I read it. Everything in the landscape of this world is so hot and dry and barren that I had to keep water next to me while I read to remind myself that I was not in the wasteland with Taimin and Selena.

The story is a journey of self discovery and the things you’ll put your body through to survive. I loved how I could feel Taimins pain and Selena’s struggles. I was right there with them both.

All in all, this book made me think Gladiator meets Daenerys Targaryen while she’s traveling with the Dothrak, after her dragons have hatched, and they’re out of water and all fixing to die —for 48 chapters.

Now, my review of this book changes a bit as I come at it from a different angle.

As a writer, I wanted to pull my hair out the entire read. Every rule that writers are supposed to follow, the author did not follow. I suppose once you’ve published as many books as he has, you can indeed do what you want, but it left me frustrated with the rules that the publishing industry forces...

Hana: In depth look at surviving the wastelands and how the Firewall limits life for those trying to find food and water. The character development seems slow but steady. I like the whole setting of human and non human, the whole mystic power and the beast.

I really enjoyed listening with Kindle Unlimited .

Ritesh Agrawal: Honestly, I have never read one of Maxwell’s books but have heard a lot about them. This book is a high quality adventure. Not for the people who don’t like the thrill of high end detail. You can really feel like you are in the book while reading this, or at least I could. I loved this book and recommend it to all people who want a break from all this COVID-19 going around.

Girl From Nowhere The Firewall Trilogy, Book 1 this book being reviews, A World Of Secrets The Firewall Trilogy, Book 2 – release date scheduled 16 July 2020 and A Search For Starlight The Firewall Trilogy, Book 3 –no release date as yet.

I'd rate this book "Young Adult" as the writing is simple and clear. But I like youth novels myself, and I wouldn't discourage even mature adults from reading this series.

These are themes we've seen before: Taimin come home to find that his place has been ransacked and his aunt killed (hello, Luke Skywalker) His companion, mystic, Selena, is on a quest for the mythical White City. (Lord of the RIngs and maybe Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea series.) Why is there a wall of fire? What does it mean and what kind of world to they live in? Many mysteries to unfold.

There is plenty of action, but the writing is not so elegant as LeGuin or as dense as Tolkien. If you love Star Wars but want fantasy rather than space, this is probably up your alley as the story moves and is written in simpler, bold and visual language. Maxwell is a popular...
