Oriana: Took this monitor on a trip to India this year and was able to map out all the spaces I visited and understand how the AQI varied based on the area.
For example, all indoor airconditioned spaces were under AQI 40-60 in Mumbai and Pune. Car rides where the driver was running the air were all 15-30 AQI. Streets in Mumbai and Pune could spike up to 100 AQI because of the exhaust of cars. New Delhi had the highest AQI at around 250 in May, and when cooking indoors in a non-ac house, the AQI would shoot up to 500! Yikes!
So this device gave me peace of mind in knowing what areas where alright for me to take my mask off and what areas I had to keep it on!

Matthew J. Mayer: I tested the unit for accuracy on site at a New Jersey air quality monitoring station (Standing about 15 feet from the actual sensor area), taking several readings and later getting the minute by minute PM 2.5 NJ air quality station readings in an EXCEL file from the air monitoring folks at NJDEP (nice people). I compared my time-logged readings to theirs (same exact location). Converting PM 2.5 levels to AQI for easy comparison, the bottom line here is that the TRUE readings from the NJ air quality station were about 61 for PM 2.5-based AQI, and my unit read 63. That's close enough to meet my needs. I plan to also run tests in the low (around 25 AQI) and high (around 150 AQI) ranges to see how well the unit does across a wider range of values. But from what I've seen so far, it seems to do the job well. Thus, I take exception with the gentleman who was more critical regarding this unit.

Mike O.: The first few days I had this monitor I really doubted it's readings. I also bought a purifier at the same time. I'd put the purifier in our 80 square foot office and turn it on high for an hour. The monitor registered 0.4 for the pm2.5. I didn't think it was possible. After a little research I learned that trees absorb particulate matter. I then started comparing the pm2.5 levels via the weather channel. I live in the prairie region in SW Minnesota which has a lack of trees. When the outside pm2.5 showed 3 for this area it showed about 1.5 for northern MN which has a few forests in the area and I then checked for Grand Marais, MN which is near the Canadian border and more forest than anything and the pm2.5 registered just 0.41. That shows me that the levels can be that low. I've also been noting the change in the readings overnight when the purifier is not on in the main living quarters. I make sure to get the reading down to 1 or less before I retire for the night. If the pm2.5 according to the weather channel is under 5 outdoors, my indoor reading will be just a little over f1. If it's over 7 outdoors it may be over 3 indoors and if it's as high as 20 outdoors it might be over...

truri: Update in Sept. 2022. This meter continued to work fine, but I bought a more elaborate meter and gave this one to my brother.
Longer explanation: with Covid, I decided to track CO2 levels in restaurants etc. First I got an el-cheapo CO2 device for $60, which I promptly left in a hotel. 😢 Then I got the Temtop 2000C, for about $150, which measures CO2 PM2.5 and PM10, VOC, and NOX. I give a brief review for that meter.
So I continue to recommend Temtop meters. They are intended for people who are not intimidated by small fonts and slightly complex menus/buttons. Make sure you decide which pollutants you want to measure and get the appropriate model. I wish they had WiFi or Bluetooth, but that would raise the price.
Update in September 2020.
This device has held up well and I am using it to track air quality during the ongoing California fires. Its outdoor readings match official numbers pretty well, and I now think it is Reasonably accurate. When I move it from indoors to outdoors, or into a room where I have an air filter running, its readings are about what they should be.
As I surmised in the original review, the graphing mode is not very useful. Spikes get...
