Dunno what metal they made it out of though cause it scratches really easy. Basicly everything you place in it will scratch which isnt a huge deal but a bit annoying. I am sure this also means that if you dropped anything heavy on it or hit is hard it would probably bend real easy.

Karen Bitzer: I figured I couldn't go too far wrong with the low price on these, so I went ahead and bought two. Glad I did, because I use them a lot. Not only do they reliably hold onto whatever screws, bolts, washers, etc. I put in them, but the ability to mount the whole thing on something metal is a big plus. They "live" on the open lid of my toolbox, where they're always handy. The magnet is quite strong, and when you put something metal in the dish, it isn't going anywhere until you want it to. Awesome idea and great execution. Just buy it.

run 8: I love this thing. It is the greatest thing to come along in a while and it works great. Anything metal sticks to this dish like glue. I am glad I got one of these.

Alleyooptoo: I purchased this magnetic dish to hold my metal dies for papercrafting. It's easy to lose the smaller dies while you're working on a project, so I temporarily store them in the magnetic bowl until I'm ready to put them away. I also cut my dies apart with metal snips, which can cause the dies to unexpectedly fly across the room and easily get lost, so now I cut my dies apart over the bowl. It also helps to catch the little metal trimmings left over from cutting the dies apart, which makes for easier clean up.

trishaa: When I saw this little magnetic dish, I knew I had to order it for my husband. He does a lot of tinkering around in his work shed and this most times includes screws, nuts and bolts and those little suckers seem to have a life of their own, I think they grow legs! Very often it's my job to keep track of them but I, too, occasionally am known to drop one or two and some are lost forever.
There is a thick raised rubber disk on the bottom of the tray, giving it stability so it doesn't scoot on the concrete floor....a very nice feature. I was afraid that the dish wouldn't be large enough, but it's all of six inches, quite roomy, really, and holds a lot of screws and bolts and a number of sockets, having plenty of room for all the bits and pieces...little washers are the pits to try to keep track of....they're the color of the concrete.
I'll have to say that this is one of the best inventions since sliced bread.. Heavy superior materials and excellent workmanship. This would also be
a nifty little dish to keep in my junk drawer to hold that runaway stuff....ball bearings, bullets, etc.

ilovetech007: Its great. Though bigger than i imagined, i dont think anyone would have an issue with that. Works as expected. I'm going to use this specifically to help organizing stuff when repairing, and building computers. handy way to keep the screws. This doesn't have to be used for huge heavy duty stuff from cars. i stick it to the side of my drawer with the magnetic base, keeps things off my table. i could easily take it off, and put it on table when working

Christopher Lang: I should have bought several of these ten years ago. I own a lot of radio controlled cars and race competitively. Whenever I'd do maintenance on my cars I'd always lay out all the miscellaneous screws, clips and tools on a cloth and hope I'd find them again when I needed them. I finally decided to get a magnetic tray after seeing somebody at my track that had literally just glued a magnet to his pit table and stuck all his little steel parts to it.
Firstly, this tray is bigger than I expected it to be. That's not a problem in the least, I can throw more stuff in it than I expected to and not have it get cluttered. Secondly, the magnet on this thing is STRONG. The packaging says it'll hold two pounds and I don't doubt it. I haven't tested this claim but it seems completely plausible. The bottom has a plastic cover on it so that if you anchor thing to a steel surface it won't screw up the finish on your toolbox or fridge or whatever. My only complaint (and it's a tiny almost inconsequential one) is that the base seems a little narrow for the width of the tray. It seems as though it's a little easy to knock over when it's not magnetized to a surface. But, really, that problem...
