Hansen Global 92000 SAE & Metric Socket Tray Set - 2-Row Organizer for Home or Garage

SlappywacksSlappywacks: I ordered these to help organize my tool box and they certainly did that. I dont use 1/2 inch that often so I did not use that size tray and ordered some thinner magnetic trays for my 1/2 inch sockets instead but overall I love this product. I mostly use 1/4 and 3/8 sockets and this allowed me to fit all of them in a single drawer with easy to read numbers for each size. I will say with the 3/8 impact sockets the 4 smallest sizes are touching each other and a bit of a tight squeeze to slide in and out due to the thicker walls on impact sockets but it's a minor gripe since I rarely if ever use those sizes but the rest of the sockets are super easy to grab and use when needed and this is only an issue with the impact sockets...the chromes all fit nicely without touching. I do feel like this product is a bit over priced since it's just some molded plastic but it's made in the US, it works, and it doesn't slide around in my box at all. Plastic isn't exactly bullet proof as far as durability but I've had these for well over a year and none of the studs have broken and they're re holding up just fine so I'm pleased with them

E.Ski: Many buyers (both here and in other tool blogs) said that the Hansen were really great for socket storage. I bought this set for a neighbor as a gift, since he mentioned he has to return what he borrowed from his brother.
At first, we noticed these look cheap, very plastic like. I don't know how it will hold up in long term and in cold garage. The red color holders are SAE and the gray are Metric. You can read the size numbers fairly easily as they are on the top. They are tall, so not for shallow tool drawers, but will fit deep sockets. My neighbor appreciated these and he thinks they are easier to use than the metal-strip holders that pinch you or fight you to put a socket on/off...only over time to get loose. (those also make it difficult to see the size). I guess if you have the drawer space, and don't use sockets on a daily/hourly basis, this setup may work for you. Only gave it 4 stars because it felt cheap and all won't fit shallow drawers.
Side note: I am really disorganized with my tools, and don't have time to engineer the best socket tray. But I've seen something at Lowes under Kobalt label that might hold all my sockets (it has 5 rows, metal base, abs...

W. L. Morgan: I really wanted to love these socket organizers, but they have some issues that keep them from being perfect. For one they are larger than they need to be, taking up too much space. Check the dimensions of your box before ordering. I had hoped to have all my sockets in the top compartment of my new 26" top box but had to move my ⅜ drive fractional sockets to another drawer where there is barely room for the height of the posts.

The side-to-side spacing is OK, but the front-to-back could be tighter, especially if the socket sizes alternated from front-to-back, i.e: small sockets left-to-right in the front row and right to left in the back. This could save 2 or 3 inches over the full set.
Some of my sockets don't slide all the way over the posts, which I will address by lightly sanding the offending posts.

There are omissions:
No ⅜" 11/32 socket
No ½" 26mm socket
Maximum 27mm on the ½", which is silly since there are posts for 10mm and 11mm which aren't needed in ½" drive. Have to put my 29mm, 30mm and 32mm loose in the box. I expected this with the 32mm (and 36mm) and would be okay with the 30 as well if there were 26mm-29mm.

Fosgate: I had no ideas these existed until I saw several professional mechanics at a Ford Dealership with them. I liked the idea of accountability and being able to keep track of your sockets but mainly I liked the organization in the top tray. I just had my set show up and I know what to expect out of these. The trays that will probably never leave the box will be the 1/2 drive just because of the weight and the others are more portable if you want to set the tray near where you are working. The socket set I have to fit this is Craftsman 207 pc. Easy-to-Read Mechanics Tool Set with Impact Sockets Sears Item# 00933207000 Model# 33207 .The 1/2 drive trays are nice and the metric provides larger sizes that what I have but seats all my sockets in that size. The 3/8 metric drive could use a little more development as it cuts off at 20mm and I have two larger sizes than will fit and the small 7mm does not fit without. My dremel will fix this tomorrow. This could have used the example from the larger 1/2 tray. The 1/4 inch trays seem to be in fine order as well. Overall despite missing homes for maybe 4 sockets which may or may not be real common.
