RJay: I had this since 2016. Still working too. However I found it hard to lock onto a pin with background features (trees, bushes, etc ). Always felt it was my lack of steadiness...and I explored buying a more expensive brand name, and newer model. Turns out, all of them have issues like this.
Then I found the answer...from suggestion by a user with a different brand , that APPLIES to the TecTecTec! In PIN lock in mode (with the flag in display), it always displays the shortest yardage. Meaning: Place rangefinder in PIN lock-in mode. Press and Hold the power button, and scan left to right across the Flag. The display shows the yardage change, with the shortest display updated. Release the power button, and the shortest yardage (likely the flag, if the trees are in background) is displayed. It's Fast, easy, works and far easier than trying to lock onto the pin!
I had made the mistake thinking the lock-in flash was the final number. No it updates for the shortest yardage.
What a game changer! I guess I finally understand how to use this thing.

daveoz: I don't normally do reviews - but wanted to spread the word about this little beauty!
I've held off getting a rangefinder, but finally took the plunge after researching online. Didn't want to spend £££ so decided on the VPRO500. I wanted something simple without slope function and this fits the bill.
I was a bit concerned about how easy it might be to use (previous tried a mates Bushnell - admittedly once only, but wasn't overly impressed) but used in the pouring rain yesterday - no problem. The pinseeker function is excellent and gives reassurance by measuring to the trees etc behind the target and then picks up the flag (so you can compare). Also the reading comes back fast, so no concerns about any delay.
It's small, but handles really well and feels substantial and good quality. All in all - one happy customer.
Great value rangefinder - if you can get past the brand name TecTecTec? Really??? :)

Amazon Customer: I wasn't sure whether to splash out £350 + on a Bushell but gave this a go. Bear in mind this is my first range finder. I have found the use of it a little more complicated ( albeit the instructions are straightforward - point and click) than I would have liked. Once I had mastered that (a) switch on (b) point and then (c) click again then it is fine. The only thing unsure with is that sometimes you get a range of lines and not clear why that is.
Overall however at £200 less than the Bushell it is worth the money. Solid case, robust instructions and feels the part

Monty: I bought this, like many, after baulking at the prices of the premium rangefinders
I’ve used it quite a lot since buying it and can honestly say it’s been a great buy
Very simple to use. I play mostly at my own club so pretty much use it for approach shots to greens. The pin finder mode, where the device outputs the distance to the closest object it locks onto in direct line of site, is excellent.....no more distances to the trees in the background! And because that closest distance found is shown constantly on screen after you’ve determined it, you can move the device around after exiting this mode and it still displays. On pin finder mode it took me a little while to work out a decent, never fail, quick technique for obtaining distances to flags. I found a post by another user that suggested zigzagging up & down the flagstick length. This always gets a reliable lock on the flagstick distance.
It’s quick to use the device and doesn’t hold me up, but I tend to get to my ball and use it when partners are playing shots......I suppose I’m saying, if you play golf sensibly anyway, and are normally ready to play when it’s your turn, this won’t...

SoCal Hiker and Prospector: TecTecTec Vpro500 golf rangefinder. The customer service is excellent. I've been contacted by them, not because I needed service, but because they wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied with the product, and that they are there if I have any issues. This alone made me feel like an appreciated customer. As for the product itself:
Pros:
Very lightweight. Easy to use with one hand and if scanning for a while, lightweight is a good thing
Great optics. Looking through the the rangefinder, everything was clear. (If it's not focused, make sure you adjust the focus by turning the )
Easy to use. Just point and click. the yardage readout comes back quickly.
Cons:
Single target rangefinding can get some getting used to. I've found that it's easier to rangefind people, carts, bags than pins. Most of the difficulty I had might be more user error though (see below).
Color of black only. As pointed out in some other reviews, black matches with a cart interior/cupholder. So adding multicolor would make it stand out more.
There is no stability control. So if you have shaky hands, single target rangefinding may be more difficult. Scanning and Pinseeking modes...

Dr. Who: I already have a Bushnell v3 Laser Range Finder, but I needed one for my daughter. Although I like the Bushnell, I wanted to see if there was a range finder that didn't have a high price tag because they have to pay for their advertising. I saw that the TecTecTec was the best selling range finder here in Amazon, so I decided to try it.
Immediately after ordering it, I got an email from Sara telling me that if there is anything at all they can do, please contact her. I like that, and I think other people do to.
I literally got it the next day. I ordered it in the evening and got it in the morning! All in my pajamas.
We tried it on the course today and this what I think:
PROS:
1. Returns the yardage almost instantaneously. I just point and there is the yardage instantly. I compared it with the Bushnell and they are the same.
2. The Pin yardage is like that of my Bushnell, It locks on and as long as there is nothing between the range finder and the pin, it will return the correct yardage.
3. Very simple operation. Point it and press the power button and you get the yardage. If you want the Pin press the Mode button and it will show a flag.

The rangefinder der itself is ok, but the case screw came off and
Tectectec wouldn't replace the screw (specific to product)..
The case has a 30 day warranty only......
