Amazon Customer: I was expecting a large book, this book is so small crammed with so much information its hard to read. The print is very small, reading it is giving me a headache.

Marsha: I had been suffering with digestive issues for almost a year and was at a loss as to what to do. I started researching and came across this book. The diagnostic quiz was very helpful and it was spot on. I love the recipes. Made the Chicken Tortilla Soup and we loved it. Tried to get into the baking mood for the holidays and just made the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oatmeal cookies and we LOVE them. The recipes are simple and the ingredient are easy to find. This was both a great educational book and a great cookbook to get things started. Highly recommend!

Michelle: What a great book, very informative and after 2 weeks of following the low fodmap, I noticed a big difference in how i feel and now when i do eat something that doesn’t agree with me, I notice the bloat almost instant, unreal. Oh and my stools are much better as well! Yeah

Angelica: The book has an initial test to assess which might cause your bloating. It actually works. I went to get tested and I have what the book predicted. It gives you actual useful information, definitely recommended. I have read at least 20 books on the same topic (yes for real) and this one had information that I haven't read anywhere else (ex. About abdomino-phrenic dissinergy)

Sarah Edwards: This book gave words to what I've been trying to tell my MDs. This issue is a complex one I have struggled with for a long time, but the author explains the myriad of issues very clearly and made them simple to understand. I learned so much about all the things that can be causing my painful bloated belly. If your responses to the quiz show that you have a specific condition, this book will nail it and tell you all your options for diagnosis and treatment ,including what foods and supplements could help, as well as recipes. It's a Goldmine. In my case there was no clear condition. I scored high for many conditions. I read them all and now understand why my MD is doing particular procedures. My frustration with the quiz was that in many cases it says to choose one. For me there was no one. Often there were even many options. I tried scoring it various ways and got different answers but still no definite condition and the advice for one can be the opposite for others. I have no doubt that if the author were my dietician, she working with her gastroenterologist could resolve my situation. But I live in CA and neither my dietician or my GI MD seem to have this knowledge. Thanks to...

MarinaMay: I've read books about IBS, about the gut, about the microbiome, about gut health. These have been written by gastroenterologists, naturopaths and alternative 'wellness' writers. They all seemed to just point to one specific agenda and I thought I'd have to do a big overhaul of diet and eat only natural foods or or maintain restricted eating to overcome this. This book however was very different. It talks about symptoms you may not have ever heard anyone talk about. Did you know you can be constipated but still get diarrhoea at the same time? If you go to the toilet you can still have a backlog which causes bloating and nausea further up the chain? or that what you ate 6 hours ago could be contributing to your bloating symptoms now? Or that different gas or types of flatulence can mean different things? It was such a welcome relief to hear about different conditions, their symptoms and options to deal with them. In this book she will name a condition and then tell you what bloading from that condition feels like and what you can do about it. Bloating really is different depending on the cause and condition. Through reading this, I realised I dont think I purely have IBS, but 2...

Suzie: This book isn't about selling products or supplements. It's actually about helping the public feel better and end life-long searches for solutions to their symptoms.
I never write reviews, but felt strongly about this one because it truly changed my life and I want to recommend it to the world !! I get most of my books from the library but I purchased a copy after getting a rec. from a friend, and am so glad I did. Over 6 months later I keep referencing the smart and straight-forward writing, and have been physically helped by the answers in this book. t's a STEAL OF DEAL, and hard to believe that all this info is even available in a book when people pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars to hear (if they're lucky) 1 or 2 pearls of wisdom conveyed in the chapters.
I've suffered from digestive issues from most of my life, which ultimately propelled me to go back to school for nutrition to help others with their digestive issues as well. I have to say that despite my lengthy grad school training and being treated by some top GI doctors in NYC, I learned so many new pieces of knowledge based on the author's research and years and years of experience. Her guidance not only...

The Captain: Ahoy there me mateys! This book showed up towards the end of journey into the FODMAP diet. I had already been (finally) diagnosed and was at the tail end of figuring out the list of many foods that cause me grief. But I saw this title on NetGalley, thought "well more information is always good", and got a partial eArc from the publisher. I was mainly interested in the recipe recommendations and to see what other recommendations there were for combating bloat as all the doctors were disinclined or confused about how to actually treat the recurring systems that just wouldn't go away. None of the standard medication worked for me.
So I ended up really liking this book as an additional resource. The particular sections that were invaluable dealt with supplements, fiber, and the research results of some of the recent studies. I do think this would be a great starting point into possibilities of bloating issues and wish I had this back in the beginning. There is even a quiz to that can help determine which conditions ye might have. So much suffering and useless medical tests could have been avoided. I do have to...

JRR: Brilliant read. Troubled by an uncomfortable gut and bloated belly since the turn of the century, when a GP prescribed daily meds for migraines, which turned into multiple meds to counteract the impact of initial meds. Horrible irony, since all the meds then upset my gut even further. Doctors and pharmacists prefer not to reveal the adverse effects of medications, which I believe is a dangerous lack of information. The advent of the internet has changed this and I can now see a pattern of adverse effects that changed my microbiome creating intolerances to some foods I’d eaten most of my life.
I have now lived entirely medication free for the seven years, but my gut has not healed. Hence this book. I downloaded the ereader version, then needed the hard copy in order to easily flip between pages.
My eating habits have changed to the author’s recommended diet in order to manage the worst of the symptoms and my bloated belly is disappearing. This book has so many answers to troubles with the microbiome. Highly recommended.
