The table of contents helps me to not be overwhelmed with the size of the book and the amount of information. It actually invites me to delve into doctrine in an organized and clear way. Showing me how to start and continue until finished. The outline format is helpful and breaks information into clear learning sections that encourage thinking breaks. I am relying on W. Grudem to help me to understand better so that I might grow in depth of knowledge to better glorify God.

A great resource on the doctrines of the Bible. Dr. Grudem uses scripture to support every claim he makes about every doctrine he unfolds and he does so in a way that is thought provoking and, more importantly, tugs at the hearts of believers.
This book, when used as a supplemental resource to scripture, increases the Christ-follower’s affection for the Word of God and for each person of the Trinity.

On page 1 Grudem defines "systematic theology" as any study that answers the question, "What does the whole Bible teach us today about any given topic. So if someone tries to convince you of their view on a topic, you can consult this book and you can be sure that all the relevant verses are referenced. Aslo in the areas where their are heavy hitters on different sides of a debate, their postions are summariezed. You don't have to do your own study and make sure you have all the verses and understand the doctrines they fit into. I have listened to Grudem deliver a summary of this book and he seems very even tempered. The book also reflects that. He tries to be as fair as he can. I have not been to seminary but my friends who have, recommend this book. It is accessable to a non seminarian.

Used by colleges all over the world this book as a text book, it is perfect for the home student too. Written clearly and from a conservative evangelical perspective. If you get the Kindle edition you can take it anywhere.

The strength of Grudem's ST is that it attempts to give the various views of contentious issues. The difference is that Grudem tries to give a fair airing to views that contradict his own (unlike most other SEs). This makes it an excellent resource for loving and careful shepherding as you can see all sides of a matter explained gently before you respond to it.
