Your basic gallon of pickled italian style vegetables (heavy on the carrots). Tasty and nutritious and great to add some fiber or nutrients to your diet in a disaster. A simple "back to the basics" approach. People used to eat pickled vegetables from the harvest in the winter and all year round!

This chunky giardiniera arrived yesterday with another jug of regular mild chopped giardiniera. First, the box that contained the 2 jugs was shredded and opened on the bottom, and placed on my porch in a way that disguised the condition of the box, and the Amazon delivery person HAD to know that it was opened. When I lifted the box, both jugs fell out but didn't break thankfully. BUT, I suspect this particular jug had fallen out previously as it was covered in dirt. And it gets worse.
After cleaning the jug, I opened it. The liquid was very cloudy, but the expiration date is 12/10/2022 so I thought it was okay to eat. I should have believed the negative reviews: this is NOT edible. The vegetables are slimy and soft, not crunchy, but what makes it inedible is the salt. I'm a "saltoholic", I love salt, but this is way beyond salty: kind of like concentrated ocean water. It's awful, period.
Save your money and believe the reviews: you won't be able to eat this, and will end up tossing it like I did.

The amount of vegetables is phenomenal. The taste is spicy, but not bad. I mix with salad and Italian Dressing and it is superb!!! We don't care for the pepperoncini - hard and not as flavorful as the ones we get. However, it's not a problem to get 'em out and put ours in. I will buy this again and recommend this to anyone wo loves Gardeneria.
