HangardHangard: I need to repair, replace, build new and customize cables for various pieces of equipment.
I find I am indebted to Sir Frank Bowden founder and owner of the Raleigh Bicycle Company c. 1902 for inventing this ‘Bowden Cable Housing’
Custom length or repair cables are quick, easy, and very durable with this method:
One. Determine the length needed, cut about 1/4” extra long
Two. Gently touch up the ends on a fine grinding wheel being careful not to overheat
Three. Using an awl or similar ensure the inner liner is fully open
Four. Insert your locally sourced 1/16” cable (stainless Aircraft or not, just 1/16” inch)
Five. Solder your custom ends in place.
This is a very sturdy and solid cable housing and allows precise control of things such as
Brakes, Throttle, Hydraulic actuators, Spring loaded locking pins, etc.
The possibilities are endless with a roll of this, some inner cable length, solder iron and custom ends.
The 1/16" cable fits snug enough into the inner liner for precise control yet loose enough for easy friction-free movement with absolutely no binding. It is a wonder pair.

YolkYolk: Good housing, great price. If it was lubricated in the liner then it would be a great piece to have, however, I cannot complain. Used it on a continuous run on a customer's old Bianchi which needed a full overhaul, and it worked very well via this process: I cut the cable to length, lubricated the inside with a drop of Rock n Roll CableMagic, let it sit for 10 mins., installed ferrules and inserted the inner cable. So far so good. It's not as fancy as Jagwire, Shimano, or other big names, but it does its job as good as them. Durability is okay, the rubber sheathe is a bit thinner than its counter-brands. However, the housing is smooth and not stuff, so the braking feel is smooth and positive.

I bought the stock color black to match factory color specs on most bikes.

This is great for small repair business owners or home mechanics who needs some housing now and then.

Make sure you buy some ferrules, too!

Update: I recently overhauled my first mountain bike, a Trek 3500 disc. All the inner wires are Shimano, and all the housing (including the shift housing) is Sunlite. They all work together in harmony. and my bike works like it did when I rolled it out...

MobyBike: The inner liner seems smooth. The outer coating may not be toughest, it cuts and peels easier than others I use. When I grind the cable cut to square the end using a rotary grinder, neither the inner liner nor the outer coating melt easily, this is a great bonus! The brakes feel positive, not squishy, using this housing.

Some brands of housing cut clean and the inner spiral seems to "snap", other brands cut with more of a tearing and bending of the inner spiral. This brand has the bending sort of cut, and needs to be finished with a file or grinder to remove the bent cut. Trimming the bent cut with a diagonal cutter, easily cuts the outer casing and pulls off more than usual material. Grinding and filing is easier with this than some other brands, and is easy to bevel. The outer coating is not as tight on the inner spiral as some brands, so care and caution is needed when capping with a ferrule, not to accidentally peel the outer casing from the spiral.

It probably should be 3.5 star quality (probably fade soon but it's too early for me to know that for sure), but the color is great, and the feel is actually really good, and at the price, it should be 5 star value,...
