M. W.: If you have a Shimano setup, review the brake cable specification first before buying a replacement. My model calls for 1.6mm cable diameter and 5mm housing. The Shimano replacement cables here meet the requirements. I notice there are some cheaper cables available here on Amazon, check their thickness (some are 1.4mm) and decide whether it is worth it. I deduct one star because I don't like their cable housing, it tends to collapse even when I use a Park Tool crimping tool. I've seen better ones. I have to crimp it with a sacrificial wire inserted into the housing so it won't collapse. Another thing is they are stingy on housing end caps, you need at least four more. Otherwise, it's a great replacement cable.

Aaron R: I actually used this kit to repair a Knee Scooter hand brake cable. Being able to cut it to size and finish the cut with a finishing cap, made my repair job perfect. I had leftover parts, of course, but I simply placed them with my bicycles in case one of their cables break.

Phyrexicaid: Good quality, but the amount of housing provided isn't enough to do both sets of brakes, leaving you the option of using the short piece, reusing part of the old rear housing for the front (take a middle bit) or buying a separate kit.

Matthew Reed: Check your cable gauge. My 35 yr. old Schwinn Mesarunner seemed to have a more robust cable gauge. I notice that the new cables seem to have some additional 'give' and hence the brakes feel soft like they are flexing rather than fully compressing the brake calipers. Not a confident feeling during braking.
