1) To raise tannins to a healthy level for my betta/provide enrichment
And
2) To give extra security for my neocardinas
So far these have done their job :) I'm on a "2nd round" of leaves now. I ripped up a few of the cappas and put them along the bottom of the tank(after boiling them for about 10 mins, just in case) and a little over a month I began to see serious decay so I removed the majority and added more. I expect to continue this cycle every 1-2 months until I run out, then which I will purchase more.
They work as intended, haven't released any parasites into my tank, and they look cool!(and smell good tbh)

Reader: I was looking around fiah supplies, to find things to keep our beta happy.
He doesnt love the bright light. These work qell. We use 1 or 2 in the 10 gallon tank. They make the water a tea color, and last about 6 weeks.
If you keep them in tank for too long, they do disentigrate and cause a bit of a mess, but 1 month wiuld be perfect.
Worth the price and outcome.

CallistoCallisto: Good value good quality I boiled two times and rinsed out the water. And I broke them and have to fit in the pot better my betta fish really likes them . He's spoiled. Please remember to not put betta in less than 5 gallons . They love having leaves to rest on/in.

Jose Alvarez: A bit pricey for 10 large leaves, but totaly worth it, I have happy fish, I normally use one leaf in my 30 gallon aquarium, then change it when it starts to turn black.

Lady Alyse: The leaves gave our aquarium a slightly brown colour and lowered the ph as well. We put 3 leaves in our 75 gallon tank. We like the look and our tetras and crayfish seem happy too.

jaffy: Leaves were all intact when they arrived. They are extremely large, so i cut one in half for use in my 10g aquarium and that works well. My betta loves it and likes to swim under it. It has discolored the water slightly, but not enough to be noticeable really. I will repurchase these in the future.

Chi Guy: UPDATE: My betta's activity is back to 100%. He has built his first large bubble nest in over three weeks. His appetite is ferocious again. I feed him twice per day. The water has that nice, very light brown tint. Bettas do not live in crystal clear water. I want the best environment for my betta versus what some may view as cosmetically pleasing tohave crystal clear water. Additionally, he gets his flare on when I show him something he doesn't like. He even flared at a blue, ballpoint pin I was holding in front of his tank. I am very relieved to see him back in full form. I am very glad to have added this product to his tank. It may not have been the only thing that helped but it appears to have been very beneficial for him. Therefore I've added one additional star to this review. END UPDATE
Jury is still out as I do not see any coloration being added to the water. I broke a leaf in half (very large leaves) and placed both halves on opposite sides of my betta's 5.5 gallon tank. My betta uses one half as a blanket. He rests on top of his plastic leaf hammock completely covered by this product.
Prior to adding this product to his tank, he stopped eating for nearly two...

Nic: Voile before placing in tank to release tannins (what turns water brown) and sanitize. They also sink easier after boiled. I have a nano freshwater tank with tetras, neocardinia, Thai micro crabs, snails that I place these in. Fairly large leaves that will last you a while.
Note: do not boil or boil for less time if seeking “brown” water appearance
