Kat: I'm not an electrician. Our home inspector, when purchasing, said we had a room that needed GFI outlets because they weren't grounded properly. So we had someone come in and install these. They tried to install all of them but as it turns out, you shouldn't do more than one per area that's on the same line or the whole line stops working. So we used one and reinstalled the rest of the old outlets. I'd say these were easy to install but that was really a huge pain and you have to know electrician stuff to install them, so be careful. Sometimes that's just how stuff is though. Minus one star because I wish I could have done this myself but it's not that easy. + 4 stars because they outlets themselves are good quality and worthwhile. They've held up well over time.

Bob Summers: My experience is similar to the other 1 star reviews. It's worth the 50% more to buy a Leviton GNT2 or similar product. The Leviton works well in the same box that this piece of junk fails in.

The issues I've had so far
- Twitchy. You can't use an outlet tester to verify correct wiring because the GFCI trips. One of the testers that I tried is rated at 0.3W at 120V. That's about 2.5 milliamps.
- Won't handle large/inductive loads. My job site saw would start about one time in 4, the rest of the time it would trip the GFCI. This is a double insulated (i.e. only 2 wires - no ground) on plastic feet. There is no way for there to be a ground fault.
- After some number of trips, (maybe 20?) the device failed. That is, it still tripped but it also tripped the standard (non-GFCI) circuit breaker it was fed from. I'm guessing that there is a dead short when the GFCI trips
- As others have noted, it's a big device and might not fit in your outlet box

These GFCIs are so twitchy that the only place I'm guessing that I can use them is somewhere like a bathroom, where the loads are generally small or resistive (i.e. electric razor or hair...

Readyplayer1: I got 10 boxes of these GFCI for a project I was doing. I have total of 12 damaged ones. That's more then one in each box. They all said tested and approved. But who ever was testing it must have been drunk. Because the slot for connection in the back is missing the metal connector. So you can't even hook up electrical. Also had couple just didn't work. Probably something internal or fried before even shipped. Either way, not going to buy these in bulk again.

Erica Durham: In July we bought our first home, we knew it didn't have a ground and we would need to buy some gfci outlets.
These were a great price compared to what we saw at the hardware stores so we ordered!
Once they got here we slowly started to replace the outlets we needed protection on the most. It was so simple and easy instructions made us confident. Until we got to one outlet that had extra wires my husband and I had done so many already that we didn't look at the instructions anymore and just put the extras off to the side. When we flipped the power back on both our bathroom lights wouldn't work!
Of course thinking we knew what we were doing we checked all of the breakers and flipped switches. When finally we looked back at the instructions it was a duh moment. We were super happy that this gfci was equipped to handle more wires, and that our lights worked again. Lol.
I am sure some people already know what they are doing but if you are iffy and want to DIY, these will work for you, just read the instructions first!

GeneL: 8 years in house built in1956. Old wiring. Quote from several electricians to rewire the house with grounded wiring and outlets would have bankrupted me. I should tell u that I am 68 years old, retired, live alone, well not quite alone, my best friend Sugar, a 5 year old, 95 pound rescued German Shepherd (A whole another story)... I desperately needed 3 prong grounded outlets for all of my electronics so I researched and discovered instead of re wiring the house I could legally and safely use GFCI OUTLETS with the present old ungrounded wiring as long as they were clearly marked as GFCI protected outlets. Research on my favorite site AMAZON, compared prices, read reviews and bought in bulk. It took me almost 2 weeks to make my selection. 2 days later ( avid Amazon Prime user for 2 years) I received my 2 boxes of 10 GFCI outlets per box. including wallplate, GFCI Warning stickers and understandable instructions. Well I am about 3rd way through, a little at a time. So far following instructions (rereading several times) and all completed outlets are working fine
