Olga Holly: Gail Damerow takes the deeper dive. Her book "The Chicken Health Handbook" is known as a staple for raising chickens and "Raising Chickens" is also incredible. It goes deeper into why and explains the reasons and gives great advice.

Bill: This Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens, the 4th Edition manages to cover everything with the exception of actually including the chickens. But then the "Breed Selection" chapter helps with that. I was most interested in the security of the enclosure-the coop-and its ability to remedy vermin.

COLTOJ: I really want to have some chickens but I had NO IDEA how intensive it is. There are so many choices of breeds to consider for either meat or eggs and such. THe size of the coop, the choice of floor surface, etc. It's sort of overwhelming. I'm only a third of the way through this book and have to consider whether I should take this on now. That's how good this book is. A Small investment to see if this is right for you before investing a lot more money, time and effort.

D Archer: Bought for a present for a family member so not sure about the content (all the reviews online said this this the author to choose though) but very impressed with the quality, even though it was listed as used the book doesn’t even look like it’s been opened!

Debbie: I bought this book because I am planning on getting chickens and needed to know everything from start to finish. It lost me in a few places because I have no background in chickens or livestock of any kind but I did get enough out of the book to give me a good start on my coop and the chickens.
