Stealth Cam DS4K Trail Camera for Wildlife Monitoring and Hunting

Amazon Customer: This was the first stealth cam trail camera I've used. As other reviewers mentioned, the camera does not capture images reliably. I've replaced the batteries, updated to the latest software, and walking in front of the camera in daylight fails to capture an image. I'm going to attempt to warrenty the camera directly with Stealth Cam. Hoping that the comments about bad customer support are not true. For a camera that is over $200 + a monthly cost there is an expectation of quality that does not exist with this specific camera.

Ryan: I'll write another review since my first one disappeared. Camera was fine until update time. Garbage Camera shut down after doing an update. Customer service is the absolute worse. You can't speak to someone directly, they have to call you back when its convenient for them. I called a few days ago and still no call. Nothing better then sitting around for lazy customer service to call you back while you sit there with their garbage product. Buyer beware!!!

Brandon Deterding: I had 2 of the non-cellular versions of this camera, and I couldn't have been happier (except for the need to HAVE to go to the camera for pictures/videos) so imagine my excitement when they came out with a cellular version of this camera. It was an absolute let down. The picture quality was abysmal, the sensor has a mind of its own and only triggers occasionally, and the phone app is quirky at best. I called customer service and worked through a lot of "fixes" for the camera, but nothing fixed the problems. We upgraded the firmware, tried different angles to point the camera, aimed it in different directions, and many other tricks. I ended up suspending my service from the camera and use it as a standard camera now. Unfortunately, even as a standard camera, the quality of the images and videos are not as good as the non-cellular version. I have not found any camera brand that is as good as the non-cellular version. If you are able to get to the camera, definitely go with the non-cellular version and never look back.

Rob: Camera has intermittent problems. Hangs on “waiting” when turned on then cycles through that process several times. It sometimes does not come on at all. I’ve tested it many times with good batteries and have updated the operating system in the camera but it does not record video about 50% of the time. I think Stealthcam got a bad batch. I had to return two cameras before I finally got one that works. I've had good luck with Stealth Cam in the past and own 4 others. I know how they're supposed to work.
Edit 9/4/22: lowerd rating to 1 star. Even the one that seemed to be working has failed.

Amazonaholic: Took many hours over the weekend to try and get this working until I gave up. They don’t have customer service on the weekends so had to wait until Monday. Eventually, I got it working and it seems to be fine now. Only issues I have with it so far are that it only records 10 seconds videos, it can’t take a photo and video at the same time, the reaction speed to start the recording is about 1 to 2 seconds, and even though I have it set to 3 second wait time between end and start of a new video, it is actually taking 30 seconds because it will not record a new video while it is transmitting the first one…

Update: I continued to have issues with this camera. Would not send or take new 40k videos, kept repeating the same one. Following the manufacturer customer service direction, ended up breaking the sim card holder and they agreed to replace the camera. Got the second camera, had same issues. Tried to get my money back from seller but couldn’t because it was past the 30 day seller warranty (absolute garbage). Than I got a $110 tax bill in the mail from fedex for the replacement camera because the manufacturer screwed up the paper work which now I...
