Most measure well, but the plastic bodies just don't seem to hold up, especially the snap in slide in battery covers. They soon lose their tangs or soon will not secure the battery in place. Well a caliper without battery power is useless, and a loose battery means is on and off constantly and loses its reading. But this caliper is far better. The body is all metal, and the battery cover attaches with a screw. After months I enjoy using it, and find it to be extremely accurate in our woodworking busing, and measuring some metals too. And the battery cover stays put. I will be buying another, probably several. I wish I had found this sooner.

jedi008: Easy to read, accurate and repeatable for reloading. The only negative is the battery replacement is somewhat clunky - you have to remove a tiny Philips head screw (a tiny screwdriver is included) MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LOOSE THE SCREW and then slide off the battery cap. Not a deal-breaker, but still an odd setup for the battery.
The plus is the batter is a CR2032 so it is readily available to replace!

Roger Manning: I am a home do-it-yourselfer and a scale model building hobbyist. I had been using a plastic ruler and a 75-year-old screw-gauge micrometer that I inherited from my father for about the last 30 years. This digital caliper is certainly a step up from that previous tech. It is VERY quick to take a measurement and easy to read that measurement. Has inside and outside and depth measurements. I can zero it at any point. Reads mm, fractional inches, digital inches.
I have been using this for measuring thin things like the styrene sheets that I use in model building. Seems to agree with the old screw-guage micrometer well for this. Except that using the the digital caliper is just SO QUICK!
I chose this model because it came with a plastic case. The case is kind of cheap construction but I certainly prefer having the case to just tossing the instrument into my tool drawer when I am done with it.

Gibraltar: Good built and heavy. Seems very durable and quality is ok. One thing is battery is already dead when it came but good thing, it has a spare one. All in all, i like my caliper it does a great job on my work!

Stephan DuVal: So far so good. I only measured five things with it. My only gripe is the battery door requires a jewlers screwdriver. That's a very minimal issue. The depth gauge is nice

Barringer Young: A bit heavy but well made. The fraction converson allowsxone to move quickly from metricto SAE.

Serge: Excellent quality and finish. Works smoothly, and is apparently water-resistant (I have not dipped it in water -yet! - to test the claim, though). I had several other calipers before, but they did not last long before getting erratic and eating batteries like there was no tomorrow. I am very pleased with this one.

Reg Coderre: This caliper is very handy for small wood working projects. The fraction display makes measurements very accurate, therefore better fits. I use this caliper every day and it works very well.

Icky Picky: These calipers are fantastic! The customer service has been nothing short of excellent. As others have stated, they send a nice follow up to check on whether or not you are satisfied and send some tips for use and care. It's a nice touch and they don't overdo it. I think they sent 2 or 3 emails just making sure I was happy. I am! Seems to be a family run business and a great one to support. I have been using my boss's calipers for years now and decided it's time to get my own. He has Mitutoyo digital calipers that he has owned for 15+ years. There is no doubt that his are fantastic and have withstood the test of time. They also cost (especially at the time) a substantial amount more than these. When I received them my boss wanted to see how badly I got ripped off... He was amazed! You can feel the quality of these right off the bat. The slider action is smooth and they seem to be dead accurate. I used his to test these against and they were right on every time. It's nice that you can switch between mm, in, and fractions. The "menu" is simple and bright enough to see even outdoors. The box they come in is worth keeping for so long as it lasts and they even throw in an extra battery...

Schorschi: I can't say anything bad about the measurement precision of the device, however, the battery doesn't last longer than a year.
I have maybe 10-20 measurements a year and routinely have to put in a new battery before 12 months are up.
The manufacturer suggests taking the battery out when not in use.
Well, who wants to unscrew a Philips head screw, remove the battery compartment cover, put the battery in, replace the battery cover and screw in said Philips head screw again every time a measurement is needed to be taken?
Other low-power devices last for years with the same battery – not this one.
Is it really that hard to design a circuit to limit the quiescent power requirements of this device so I don't need to replace the battery every year?
