Client d'Amazon: Après avoir acheté un pied à coulisse premier prix sur un site chinois bien connu, je cherchais quelque chose de plus qualitatif sans pour autant dépenser plusieurs centaines d'euros dans du Mitutoyo: je suis ravi de la marque Preciva. Pour le prix, on a un instrument de qualité tout en métal, même plutôt lourd, précis, avec un grand afficheur bien lisible.
Par rapport à mon ancien pied à coulisse, le déplacement de celui-ci se fait avec douceur et sans à-coup, il n'y a pas de jeux dans les pièces. La répétabilité est excellente, et pas besoin de recalibrer avant chaque mesure pour retrouver le zéro qui est bien conservé. On a ici un instrument largement suffisant pour des travaux de précision, par exemple pour contrôler la taille d'une clef ou prendre les mesures d'une pièce pour la modéliser en 3D avant de l'imprimer. Un excellent achat.

Gadget Master: I was surprised by the quality of this tool. I know there are reviews that state that this is a very good quality measuring instrument. My surprise was how good it is. Tactilely very sturdy. A well made device. Good piece of metal. No bending or warping expected. Smooth, well engineered. Accurate. Very easy to read. Easy to use. Auto-shutdown that actually works. Even comes with a case to protect the tool. Could use an option to turn on or off a backlight (rarely needed, but nice for those visually impaired).

Perhaps, even as important as a well made, accurate tool, is that the company Perciva actually stands behind their products. I had a small issue. Response within a day, action to the problem, and follow-up to make sure that I was satisfied.

dcsangdcsang: This stainless steel caliper feels comfortable and the build quality is a solid 6.5 oz. The slide has a good feel and measurements have been very consistent. I don't own a Mitutoyo, but I have a trusted (more expensive) caliper the readings from this Preciva have been spot on. My favorite features are the fractional measurements and large display, and a backlight would make this perfect. It's also nice that the battery can be changed quickly and easily without tools. The molded case is pretty basic but suitable for protecting the caliper and housing the spare battery and included screwdriver.

Eric Moore: Overall this is a very accurate and well constructed digital caliper for the asking price. I'm not a machinist, but I do quite a bit of woodworking and for me the ability to read fractional measurements was a must!

Pros -
1. Digits are large and easy to read either in daylight or reasonably lit area
2. Caliper is made of stainless steel and feels substantial in the hand.
3. It's easy to change modes with the push of a button from fractional, to decimal to metric.
4. Caliper powers-off automatically if unused for a few mins and powers-on when motion is detected.
5. Last measuring mode is remembered upon next use.
6. Caliper automatically displays fractional measurements using the least common denominator.
7. For MY use, it is VERY accurate, but bear in mind I'm not working beyond 1/64" most of the time.

Cons - (listed major to minor)
1. I wish the display were backlit to make it easier to read under dimly-lit conditions.
2. The case is VERY cheap (thin) plastic and I expect the locking tabs will break within a year of use.
3. Obviously, this is NOT a top-tier caliper (Starrett/ Mitutoyo) and as such, there is a moderate amount of 'play'...

GulfBreeze: Wasn't able to turn on the calipers out of the box. There were no instructions telling how to remove the battery. Don't try using using the phillips screwdriver that is provided. That's for something else I guess. I was able to remove the battery holder by prying open the battery cover located on the top of the display by using a small flat blade screwdriver (not provided). I removed the battery from its holder and tested using a reliable tester. Original battery was DOA. Did not bother using second battery that was provided. Assumed it was probably no better than the first. Replaced the original battery with a known good, fresh Duracell 2032. Was then able to turn on caliper with no issues. Everything seems to work okay. All functions work as described. Unit has Fraction mode which wasn't talked about much. Seems to work well. Unit seems to be a very good value. Would buy again if it continues to work like it does right now. Stay safe.

SC Tech NerdSC Tech Nerd: When I received this caliper, I was surprised at the heft, and the seemingly very solid build quality. I've looked at digital calipers before, but they all felt like toys. This one doesn't. Others here have talked in detail about the functions, etc. so I won't cover those in this review.

My primary concern was "is it accurate?"

I set out to test that in the best way that I could think of - by comparing it to an analog engineering caliper. I found that the Preciva measurements matched up well with my trusty Starrett analog caliper. Rather than go through the numbers, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

The only downside that I found was that the analog scale wasn't mounted quite accurately enough to be used for fine measurements (off by 1/100" or so), but this is a digital caliper anyway. If you plan to use the analog scale to get "in the ballpark" and use the digital scale for the actual measurement, you'll LOVE this caliper.
