Kav M: This voltage tester works just fine. Make sure that you do NOT use the GFCI tester on a non-GFCI outlet, otherwise, it'll trigger a GFCI somewhere, which disables your outlet until you find the triggered GFCI and reset it. This happened to me, and it was not fun.

Neal: Been using these to check plugs and domestic electrical wiring and so far they've worked great and saved so much time in tracing wires or checking plugs others have installed without taking off the covers etc. The only thing is that if you move the non contact tester too quickly or happen to touch a surface with it kinda abruptly, it'll read as voltage. not a huge issue just slow down and test again. Also good for testing gfci plugs. Would recommend.

No contact tester will start to light up long before you get close enough to any wires or outlets to actually know what the status is of the one you are actually trying to test. The built in flashlight is a fantastic idea and is much appreciated but I still can't recommend this no contact tester.

Imintrouble: Very good product. My only issue is that the non contact tester is very sensitive. More sensitive than others i have used. As a matter of fact the Klein version of this only wants to detect power when you touch the hot side of the wire or get very very close. This goes crazy running when you're inches away. If you were to try and test a bundle of wires close together then you'd be out of luck since it would pick up signals from all. Not bad for most uses.
