Teresa Kansky: This is my first book with this author. I liked the premise of the book but it took to 70% of the book before the reader learns what the inheritance is. Then it seemed a bit ridiculous that the inheritance may not be accepted for various reasons - really? (no spoiler alert here). I've decided not to read the next in the series. This book seemed to string me along and it took too long to learn all plots involved in the story. I don't recommend the book.

Kerry: The book is really easy, good read. There are two stories in one. One rather underdeveloped and the other is ok. But it is a decent feel good read.

Nanny witch: Absolutely loved this story, how the main characters developed and their story unfolded, it kept me wanting to turn the pages way past my bedtime! I had guessed fairly early in the book what the outcome would be, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of reading it.

Mary Muchowicz: Clara's parents were killed and her sister turned ugly. It was also too expensive to live alone in New York City so Clara decided she needed a new beginning. She ended up taking a job as a housekeeper for Joan Russell who owned a large beachfront mansion on Solomon's Island. Joan's remaining relatives (a niece and nephew) were not at all close and only saw Joan or called when they wanted money. Clara and Joan became very good friends and Clara cared for her while she was dying. When Joan's niece, Olivia arrived, she treated Clara horribly giving her less than a week to get out of the house, saying she took advantage of Joan, threatening her and trying to get her to sign questionable documents. Clara's s friend, Mackenzie does her best to support her and keep her spirits up. A chance fender bender brings Mike into her life, plus a new job, a new place to live and she gets to adopt Joan's dog Holly. Clara loves working for Mike and the two are attracted to each other. Olivia keeps threatening Clara trying to keep her from coming to the reading of Joan's will. She even gets a call with a man threatening her life. Clara does not want anything to do with anything Joan might leave her...

P. Blevins: Beachfront Inheritance: Solomons Island Book 1 is by Michele Gilcrest. Solomons’ Island is a part of Martha’s Vineyard. Like other islands around it, tourism is a major moneymaking project for them. The inhabitants of the island are welcoming and take care of each other. This book enhances that trait as well as gives a hint of the importance of tourism. Caring for each other and family are the two traits the islanders are most proud of.
Clara has worked for Joan Russell for ten years as housekeeper and has enjoyed it and doesn’t mind the isolation it brought with it. Clara became friends with her employer and definitely wasn’t ready for her death. Clara truly mourned the passing of her friend and was prepared to treat Joan’s family as well as she did Joan. However, Olivia and her brother were complete opposites of their mother. The first thing they did was contact a realtor to put the house up for sale and arrange for a company to stage the house. Since Clara’s apartment was part of the sale, it too had to be staged. Thus, Clara had to be out in less than a week. In addition, Olivia wanted her to set up and serve the reception following Joan’s funeral never once...
