RGFGompei: I bought this to use as a throwing axe because the wooden handles on my other axes kept splitting. Now I use it for all kinds of things. I don't think I could damage this thing if I tried. Great tool.

Shane: The media could not be loaded.  I’ve never written a review before, despite buying enormous amounts of products on Amazon. Today, I was at one of my rental properties that’s vacant, checking up on things there, and I noticed there were some boards. I have targets in my SUV for when I’m at the shooting range. I set some of them up. Today, I am literally running on an hour of sleep and feel mentally drained, and my coordination, etc., seems very off. Yet, I was able to easily hit the throwing axe into the boards. I’ve never thrown a throwing axe ever before, but I will definitely be practicing when I get home, and most likely, I’m going to sharpen it in my garage. The axe is sturdy and well-built for the price. I destroyed another board after this video. I expected to catch myself doing a bunch of misses, but it was pretty cool to see how easy it is. This is a nice combat knife I would place along my waist with my rifles and handguns.

Stephen B: I purchased this tomahawk as an impulse buy based on it looking "cool". I never intended to actually find a use for it, but it proved itself to be quite valuable. I take this with me when I go hunting, camping or to the cottage and use it to chop small branches off trees, or use the side of it as a hammer to pound tent stakes into the ground. So far it has endured 3 years of use and is still going strong with no more signs of damage, although the black coating is scratched off in a few areas.

The blade comes pretty sharp but I went even further and sharpened it on a whetstone. The blade is usually sharp enough to last a weekend of chopping small branches and throwing it repeatedly into the ground and my friends who insist on throwing it at trees. Comes in handy for making kindling wood to get the fire going as well.

In regards to throwing, I admittedly tried it a few times. The first I got luck and manage to stick it to a tree quite well. The second and third attempts I failed and never tried again. I'm certain there is a technique to it and if you are familiar with it, then this should work as it is possible.

Grip wise, the entire shaft and handle area is...

J.S.Boukman: First thing I love about this model is that it is very affordable. I'm a tomahawk fanatic and have many different models, yet I own two of these. That's the model I use the most and go HARD with it. I'm very demanding of my tools and have used it in many different ways, day in & day out on multiple occasions and adventures. It's rugged and not too fancy, totally reliable. I live in Canada and have used it in very cold temperatures and kind of expected it to break in these conditions, especially after all it's been through, yet it is still in one piece, working as good as ever. Actually that's why I got a second one. I expected the first one to break eventually since it is not full-tang but it never did break. If you take care of the blade and don't use it to bang rocks like an idiot, this hawk will last you a long time. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it is not full-tang and because the case that comes with it is horrible. The case itself deserves a 1 / 5 star rating...

MUND1MUND1: This first one I received I sent back due to damage. The outer box was fine, the product box however was crushed, the Tomahawk itself appeared fine initially. But when viewed head on, there was a bend to it. The head of it was slightly bent along it's mounting surface to the handle.. Amazon should have noticed/not shipped it that way. But enough about that. The second one delivered was/is fine. It's sharp, came with a nice edge. The protective coating on the blade edge is a bit hard to remove. I suspect it's there to protect the blade from corrosion en route from China, where made. Not a big fan of items like this that are made there. Often times with inferior material & workmanship I have personally found/experienced. However, considering the price, what you get, it's sharp, seems to hold an edge. I think for the money, it's a keeper!

I had mine delivered in late Summer, and just had to rush out to the woods to try. I found that after a 20 minutes or so hacking away on an old downed limb; that my hands were pretty sweaty. I would switch hands to get the feel for this new tool. It seemed a bit slippery. The handle that is, despite the serrations in the handle, it was...

Frozen North: Let's put this out there first - I did NOT buy this product to split wood or cut down large trees, I have a couple hickory-handled axes, a eastwing long-handled hatchet and 2 fiskas wood splitting axes (I would recommend those axes for sure - driven over, abused, still going strong with no head detachment issues).

This tool was bought for it's weight, ease of use and the amount of abuse I could put it through. At - 40 degrees, with ice, frozen rock and dirt, this thing got scratched. Scratched, not bent, not broken. The handle is great, (better with a lanyard - easy enough to install), the metal works well, the sheath is good quality. I leave in my truck for winter-road use along with an emergency shovel (has a saw blade as part of the handle) and it comes in very handy for many functions. I will admit, I wasn't sure how practical it was going to be when I opened the box and saw how, ummm, 'compact' it was. I'm sold now, I'd buy it again and would probably buy it for those guys that spend 2 weeks in the bush (or tundra, or mountains...).

FastActionBlades: This was my first tomahawk purchase and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. I was able to throw 4 spin tosses from about 42 feet on my first day with it. It is very sharp and very durable. I tried for a 50 foot throw but was lacking room, I hit a high tree branch, it got lopped off and the hawk just kept on flying. I hit it very hard several times on my target board at all kinds of angles and I swear it looked better after a day's use than when I first took it out of the box. I did damage the handle, took a chunk out of it, but only because I throw another axe and it hit the SOG dead on blade first. Yes I cried, then continued to use it like that never even happened. It did not affect the throwing one bit. Overall, this is a great product at a decent price. I would recommend this to anyone. I am also looking forward to trying out his brother the Fast Hawk. Hope this review was helpful.

Molon Labe: This Tactical Tomahawk from SOG is the older brother of the Fast Hawk which I already own.

I think this Tactical Tomahawk "F01T" is really more suited for the woods and combat situations out there (Military, Survival, CPO).

It is a little bit bigger and taller compared to the Fast Hawk. I primarily use the Fast Hawk for the vehicle (Truck), as it is really light and easily concealable.
Perfect to break/cut through windshield/windows in case of emergency situations (Car Fire/Flooding)!

Now, for the Big Brother, the F01T Tactical Tomahawk... Only by looking at it, you know it was made for THE REAL JOB and designed for tactical/survival people out there...

First, the polymer handle feels really sturdy and grip is tight enough. Weight of the Blade is pretty good too!

I've hit some maple wood (really hard) with the spike and blade and they worked flawlessy! It made a good 2 in. hole with the spike and deep 3-4 in. cuts with the blade...

P.S.: I want to say that Amazon is awesome for SHIPPING... They ship fast and it's always in great shape when it arrive! Seriously, way better than any Ebay or anything like this!

Will definately buy...

californialife: First thing I'd like to say is this is a tactical axe. I see people giving it poor marks for its wood chopping ability but, let's face it, that's not really what it's made for. If you want a hatchet for camping, buy a camping hatchet. That said, I bought and compared this axe against the United Cutlery UC2765 M48 Hawk Axe and the Cold Steel Trench Hawk Axe. All are comparably priced and worthy of consideration, depending on what you intend to use it for. First, I don't like the poly handles on any of them. I have large hands and I find all of these a bit slippery for my tastes despite whatever texturing or grooves they have on them. This is the only reason I deducted a point from the rating. These all have some heft to them and I prefer a bit of sticky tape wrap along the shaft to provide a more secure grip. I did that and they all felt better. I also added a rope loop to each handle for better retention.

I tested each of these the same way and tried to be as consistent as I could with my swings and throws, but I admit there is some room for error in my testing method. I figured the real use for these is in self-defense and that a single blow from any one of these ought to...
