Tim J: Best Debut well considering it’s actually their 3rd album released in 2003 still in my view their international debut. This was my first introduction to snow patrol living back in New Zealand at the time at 15 years old. Now in my 30s it takes me back. 5 stars true my a masterpiece of Rock.

Zak Stargrinder: This is the best Snow Patrol album. The previous two are ok (I think someone has stolen them from my house so can I please have them back). Then they were on the XFactor or whatever and went all slow and gash. This is still a winner though and side one is pretty flawless. Also has the one everyone knows on it when they are not confused with the other one that everyone knows (which is on the next album).

Theresa W: That is how I describe a band that I stumble upon (thank you Grey's Anatomy) and fall in love with. Snow Patrol hit my radar while I was starting to lose faith in the music industry in finding new, exciting and unique bands. I can't tell you the last time I'd found a new band to be excited about (this was in 2006)...Snow Patrol renewed my faith in music and unique, modern, worthy bands.

I bought Eyes Wide Open first and loved it so much that a month later I bought Final Straw. While this CD is not as good as Eyes Open, it's still a pretty damn good CD! I think in this CD they may have sort of been honing their skills and finding their nitch, style. But with a talented lead singer and musicians, and great songs...you can't go wrong. I think in part what makes Snow Patrol songs so likeable, are the lyrics and that many of the songs are relatable. Some of my favorites are: How to be Dead, Chocolate, Wow, Spitting Games and Grazed Knees.

If you like alternative rock, alternative or indie, I'd highly recommend Snow Patrol. You might want to start with Eyes Open though if you don't already have it. Thank god for new, youthful, unique bands, this is like a breath of fresh...

Bricktop: It seems that there are very few discs in the Alternative/Progressive/Rock arena that have been released in high resolution. I can think of a few like Keane, Oasis, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and John Mayer, but the list is few and far between.

How refreshing it is then to get a disc like this one from Snow Patrol on Super Audio CD. The mix is spacious without being invasive. Listening to Chocolate the surrounds are using sparingly for vocals, but in just the right spots, lifting the soundstage of the song well beyond the confines of my room. The album is almost in two parts with Side A presenting a more straightforward rock while the "B Side" eases into a more ethereal sound while never losing track of where the album starts. Hence I definitely prefer the second side of the album.

I have yet to listen to the stereo or CD layer of this release, but the multi-channel mix is very palatable and I'd recommend this to anyone with a set-up that allows for Super Audio CD playback. If you don't have it, you don't know what you're missing.

For fans of acts like The Verve, Chapterhouse, Pulp, Dandy Warhols, King Cobb Steelie, Dig, Keane and perhaps even Coldplay,...

Tyro: It beats me why people compare this band to Travis, Coldplay and Keane. They are about as far from the classic pop sound of those bands - esp. Travis and Keane - as you could get. Instead, Snow Patrol have a driving, bass-heavy barre-chord driven sound with simple song structures. It brings out the beat, where Travis's songs bring out the strumming guitar and delicate chord changes. I guess the similarity lies with the emotional nakedness of Snow Patrol, which is what really makes them - and this cd - special. They are nowhere near as melodic as Keane, and, in fact, some songs verge on a kind of tedious blandness. But there is an obvious intelligence to the lyrics and an open anger that reminds me more of early Pub Rock or New Wave - Elvis Costello type stuff. I wouldn't mind a few more effective hooks (like the guitar riff in "Gleaming Auction"). This is driving rock - not the fairly light Britpop we've been listening to.

cmichaelh: i have to say i'm not quite up with alot of new bands. i have my own personal favorites that i stick with. every once in awhile you stumble across a new band you hear of. this band "SNOW PATROL" i found out quite by accident.

they have a unique sound like some of my favorite bands "THE CURE" and "JAMES". bands that do something there own way which is great.

anyway i was watching, quite resently. "DOCTOR WHO-CONFIDENTIAL #13 for SERIES ONE. during the last 5 minutes of the program they played a song with clips from the series leading up to the regeneration of "the Doctor".

in the back ground a song was playing, "SNOW PATROL- RUN" it's a great song. i got online ordered the cd (used)and if your even a little bit of an alternative rock fan you might check this one out.

it's a little different but different in a good way. the whole cd rocks. apparently they have been around for awhile because they have at least a half dozen cd's out.

i'd have to say i've been missing out. they are good... i don't normally write a review unless it's something i really like. mostly also i write a review when something hasn't been written about it before.

Jacob Cowell: I bought this album about four months ago after being recommended it by a friend who was into Death Cab for Cutie. I love DCfC, so I thought that Snow Patrol would be some sort of rip off of them. Not even close. In fact, I don't even consider it the same kind of music. But this isn't a review intended to compare two bands. I'm here to talk about the great music put out by a great band. To those who compare them to Coldplay, I just don't see it. Snow Patrol's music is much more guitar driven than Coldplay's, and I'm a fan of Coldplay. The singer's voice doesn't sound like Chris Martin's voice in any way at all, and tends to sound more like a Placebo and at times even Radiohead. And their music, even if the lyrics are strange at times, is upbeat and makes you want to move. Take "Wow" for instance. What a great fast paced song. Other favorites of mine include "How to be Dead, Chocolate, Run, Grazed Knees, and Somewhere a Clock is Ticking". This album, and this band deserve far more attention than they are getting, and I feel if more people listen to them, they will explode on the music scene.

K. J. Verma: funny story. my friend wanted this for an xmas pressie and i had never heard snow patrol before in my entire life. bought it for her without a second glance and gave it to her. the next day i hear 'run' and im thinking this is one of the most amazing songs ever...the guy on the radio titles it and comes out with 'snow patrol'. and to think i had to wait five more weeks to get it again. run is amazing song. and this album is amazing - its not one of those ones where u have the typical singles and then the typical 'album songs'. this is amazing stuff. i was not expecting this calibre at all but here it is and its my fave. particular faves include run, grazing knees and spitting games of course. everyhting else is great too. it wont go out or grow old thats for sure. if u like coldplay, lifehouse, dashboard confessionals, live, matchbox 20, u2, brand new and ryan adams this is the sort for u. if u dont like em STILL BUY THIS!!! SNOW PATROL WAHOO U ROCK!!!
