Jan: Kolejna płyta w dyskografii Agnes Obel (czwarta już?), a wydaje się najlepsza że wszystkich. Bardzo nastrojowa i świetnie podana muzyka.

MagiSci: An album of exceptionally beautiful music and enthralling mesmerizing vocals. This is a highest order example of the ethereal nature of the sonic progression of time. My highest recommendation and not to be missed.

David Charles Duran: This is a pretty good album from her. The more I listen to it the more I like it. It sort of grows on you over time. Citizen of Glass is probably still my favorite but this could eventually become the runner up. Definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of her music.

Jayne Err: There’s just something about this woman’s music that touches me to the core. Gorgeously haunting chamber pop, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to it (and her other albums). Ethereal yet emotional, melancholy yet wistful- Agnes Obell is nothing short of a genius, especially when you take into account her whole body of work. I love that when her music is percussive it does so most of the time without the use of drums or they’re low in the mix. Every one of her albums is a total gem and this one is a fine starting point (but note-one of her latest) for a new listener as well as a must-have for devotees. The ecologically friendly packaging is thoughtful and beautiful as well.

Canamit: I found Agnes Obel two or three years ago and I have since collected every album of hers. I am absolutly in love with this sweet angel. She is a musical genius and one of my favorite contemporary musical composers. I purchased Myopia as soon as I found it and without having heard even one song from the album.

Tiggerlion: All of Agnes Obel's albums are tender, elegant and graceful. Her first, Philharmonics, evokes the delicate, pristine beauty of a snowflake. Aventine, warmed by a deep blanket of strings, is auburn and gold. Citizens Of Glass expands her horizons with a sonic palate of unusual instruments and percussion. Her latest, Myopia, seems a step back to a long, introspective, moonlit night.

All her signature sounds are here: delicate, flowing piano lines, pizzicato cellos, a bassline that is felt rather than heard, and pure ethereal vocals. She pitches her own voice up and down to create backing by a sepulchral Obel choir. At the heart of it all is her and her piano and this time she adds as few instruments as possible to enlarge the sound. Although, the title track features an actual drum, overall, there is an austere feeling, a sparsity in the production, especially in the strings and the lead vocal, that stings. She doesn't sing the words clearly, as though reluctant to reveal their secrets. The song titles are enough to be concerning: Camera's Rolling, Broken Sleep, Island Of Doom, Myopia, Can't Be, Promise Keeper and Won't You Call Me. Three instrumentals are miniature classical...

Diese Rezension basiert erst mal auf dem MP3 Download der seitens Amazon beim Kauf der Platte dabei war. Ich werde die Rezension ergänzen wenn die Platte angekommen ist.

Wir haben den Download um Mitternacht gierig erwartet und schon 5-6 Durchläufe seitdem gehabt, da die vorab ausgekoppelten Songs Island of Doom und Broken Sleep definitiv Lust auf mehr gemacht haben. Den Vorabeindruck der beiden neuen Songs bestätigt auch das komplette Album Myopia. Neoklassische Klaviermusik, teils Kammermusik mit immer mehr elektronischen Einflüssen, traumhaft entfremdeten Stimmen und einer sehr düster melancholischen Grundstimmung die von Agnes Obel wunderbarer Stimme gekrönt wird. Für mich definitiv kein Easy Listening, sondern etwas, das volle Konzentration beim Hören verlangt, dafür aber mit wunderbaren dunklen Klangwelten aufwartet, in die man hineingezogen wird und aus denen man nur ungern wieder herausgerissen wird. Ein spannendes, klanglich äußerst feines Album mit einem interessanten Cover und keinem einzig auch nur annähernd mittelmäßigen Song. PlattenbesprechungenPlattenbesprechungen: „Myopia“ nannte die dänische Musikerin Agnes Obel ihr viertes Studioalbum, welches am 21. Februar auf dem Plattenlabel Deutsche Grammophon erschien. Am 29. Oktober 2019 gab Agnes Obel die Neuerscheinung zum ersten Mal bekannt und veröffentlichte gleichzeitig das Lied „Island Of Doom“ als erste Single-Auskopplung der Platte. Single Nummer zwei erschien am 7. Januar 2020 mit dem Titel „Broken Sleep“.

Wie bei den drei vorherigen Veröffentlichungen der in Berlin lebenden Dänin, so bekommt man auch auf „Myopia“ sehr intensive, sanfte und fast schon zerbrechlich wirkende Musik zu hören. Alles darauf klingt sehr melodiös und harmonisch und dabei fast durchgängig auch traurig. Oder ist es eher eine gewisse Nachdenklichkeit, die mit der Musik auf diesem Album transportiert wird? Das bleibt wohl jeder und jedem selbst überlassen und hängt sicherlich auch von der Stimmung ab, in der man sich gerade befindet. Intensiv hört es sich allerdings zu jeder Zeit an – obwohl es sehr ruhige Musik ist und von der Atmosphäre her eher in die dunkle Jahreszeit passt.
