Donald Marcotte: The Order:
Arrived fast and in a more than adequate package. The product was in perfect condition and well protected during transport.

The Context:
I live just in front of a main highway. My apartment is opened area style. I have no rugs or large carpets. I have no pets. I don't smoke.

The product:
This little piece of hardware does a fantastic job so far (one month or so). Very responsive to my distasteful cooking! ;-)

1- It is small and yet powerful.
2- A bit noisy at high speed, but not louder than expected. It's a fan after all!
3- It cleans the air fast and then returns to a practically silent state.
4- Very good value for the price. I agree with other reviews saying that this air purifier is not as proficient as a professional, medical grade, model with very high tech filters. It is, however, perfect for my needs.
5- The replacement filters are available here at a reasonable price.
6- It is very easy to replace / insert / remove / clean the filter.
7- I accidently kicked the poor thing twice while moving stuff and it still works fine (yeah, I know, I'm clumsy!).

Lucy Wright: Surpasses all expectations.
This purifier is so sensitive that on auto mode it will kick in if the fields outside are being sprayed, I shake a bed blanket or even if I’m roasting a chicken for supper (downstairs). Since it’s been in action I haven’t sneezed once in the room so I’m content that it’s doing it’s job.

LaughLove74: It's a great product. I used it on a Friday afternoon and the ozone setting truly cleans the air! I hung out on my hammock with my dog on the patio for an hour to let it do what it needed to do in my 750 soft apt. Came in and turned the unit off. The air was amazingly clean!

But my neighbor wasn't home and smoking in his apartment. So before he got home, it worked great! I was all happy until he got home and with my a/c running, the smoke came through my vents. I took the unit and held it under the vent where I can smell the smoke very strongly. But it didn't register in the machine. I kept it on to see if it would make a difference. Unfortunately it didn't. It is however a small unit, and fairly quiet for the job it has to do. If you want fresh air it definitely does the job. It just didn't do what I needed it for.

Justin: I was skeptical that this would help, but after a few months of my upstairs apartment neighbors smoking so much cannabis that it had sunk into my furniture and clothes even after a wash, and no help from the landlords, I had to try something.

Whatever this filter is doing, it's working. I placed it in our kitchen that had reeked of smoke for weeks and it cleared it up almost entirely within 30 minutes. I keep it in the bedroom now, for the most part. The smell wafts down whenever they light up but it's gone almost instantly and doesn't bother me anymore, or keep me awake when I'm trying to sleep. The fan is quiet and makes for soft white noise at any speed below 3. My computer's fan is louder than the 1 setting, but the 4 and 5 settings do make normal conversation a bit hard to hear. You will very rarely need to run it this high.

As an added bonus, I have slight asthma and a cat. I don't know if it was the smoke or my cat (or just a placebo effect) but I find I can breathe easier after running the thing for 10 - 15 minutes with the door closed or even slightly ajar.

As an aside, I'm not sure if the particulate detector doesn't work well, or if the neighbor's...

Surprised and Delighted: This PRELIMINARY REVIEW is about the "SilverOnyx Air Purifier for Home w/ True HEPA Carbon Filter, UV Light and Ionizer." It still is too early for a really DEFINITIVE review. However, for the 3 weeks I have been using it, I HIGHLY Recommend this product. The filter is at "98% life remaining" and the dust is all but eliminated. My allergies appear to be better as well. In my residence, I suffer no ill effects. Typically though, within 20 minutes of leaving my apartment, my eyes begin to water and I start sneezing. The internal fan is very quiet, but believe me it is very efficient. As expected, the fan, when operating at MAX speed (5), becomes a bit louder. The filters are easy to replace and relatively compact for their designed task. The features are really nice as well. I am 66 years young and retired, on a fixed income and this is the 4th air purifier system I purchased. This unit is BY FAR the best of them. Once I save more money, I plan to purchase ANOTHER SilverOnyx Air Purifier. You can breathe-easy with this device operating in your home. No pun intended.

Amber: I just received this bad boy a couple days ago, so I will hopefully remember to give an update in a couple weeks. A few years ago I found out the reason I was getting sick all the time is because I am allergic to dogs and unfortunately have two bulldog fur babies I love very much who shed A LOT and slobber more! My only option after finding out I was allergic to dogs was to hug my dogs, suck it up, and accept a life full of a stuffy nose, watery eyes, and severe sinus congestion.

Not sure why it took me 4 years later, but I just recently thought to myself I wonder if an air purifier would help. So I started looking into air purifiers and I researched A TON of them for a few weeks. I didn't want to spend $300 on one, but also wanted one that worked. We have a smaller house, just barely over 1,000 square feet. It is mostly carpeted, besides the kitchen and bathroom, so the pet smell can get bad no matter how many carpet cleanings or how much vacuuming we do. The house is also EXTREMLY dusty.
