Mike M: I used this product to replace perimeter lines on a kayak. Braided dacron does not stretch and this product fits the bill. The diameter was exact to fit in some tight, thus making the job easier.

Jill S.: I wanted to replace the cheap (i.e., loosely twisted) tie-down ropes that came with my shade canopy. The original ropes would snag on any slight roughness that came up against them. At first I thought I wanted nylon, then I read in the Sgt. Knots descriptions that nylon stretches a lot. I decided to try the 1/8" dacron polyester and it turns out it's just right. It's a solid braid, that is, it's not a few core strands of one material surrounded by a sheath of another material. The braid is tight enough that it's hard to snag, but it's soft enough that the rope isn't stiff. It holds knots nicely. For permanent knots I apply a small dab of super glue to several places on the knot, gluing the knot together. (BTW, the free app 'Knots 3D' is outstanding and showed me two new knots that were better than those I had been using.) As with any synthetic rope it starts to fray as soon as you cut it. Just use a cigarette lighter or BBQ lighter to melt the ends. I was pleasantly surprised that the melted polyester dacron didn't stink nearly as much as when I had melted nylon rope that I used before. I will definitely be ordering from Sgt. Knots the next time I need rope. It's a much better...

Sidney Beauchamp: Because the size I needed was not available, There are some drawback for me. But this rope has been great so far. I used it to make leaches for my dogs. It doesn't knot very easy and when it does the knots are easy to untangle. It makes for stiff leaches but the dogs have not run away once because the leach broke. Time will tell how this resists the Canadian weather and abrasion but looks promising so far.

CliffCliff: My wife and I cruise the California coast on our sailboat. I purchased 100 feet of the 3/16" line for use aboard, primarily for making proper reef pendants for our new mainsail. Reef pendants are short pieces of line affixed to the sail through grommets. These lines are used for tying the loose fabric of a reefed (shortened) sail to the boom when the sail is reefed down in heavier winds. Reef pendants spend the bulk of their life being blown around, beating against the sail, doing nothing...until the wind really starts blowing and the sail is reefed. Then the reef pendants must be easy to tie in wet conditions and must subsequently be easy to untie later on when the wind eases. Consequently, these lines must be properly whipped at their ends with sail twine to prevent them from beating themselves to uselessness in the wind. Dacron (polyester) line is the line prescribed for this application. It should have minimum stretch, good UV resistance and be easily worked. So far this line seems workable in that fashion. Each of the 8 lines were cut to 40", properly whipped at the ends which were then sealed with heat from a flame. The lines were then installed on the sail with a figure-8...

T in TexasT in Texas: I have recently purchased this Dacron rope in three sizes. 1/4” 5/16” and 3/8”. This is some of the finest Dacron rope I have ever purchased. It holds knots very well and is easy to tie. I’ve been using Dacron rope, in various sizes for several years now. It holds up well in the hot Texas sun where I live, and has exceeded my expectations. I’m currently using the 5/16” rope for the main support line for a hammock stand I built. I weigh 225 lbs. So, I needed a small, but strong rope that I felt would comfortably support my hammock, with me in it. Actually, the 1/4” proved to be strong enough. But, honestly I didn’t feel comfortable with that size for my application. The 5/16” rope works perfectly for me. Sgt. Knots provides a high quality product at a good price, plus fast and free shipping. I’ve attached a photo of the hammock stand I built. The 5/16” rope is the main support between the two cross stands that support my hammock. Sgt. Knots is now my go to vendor for future purchases.

Honestreview: I have been using Dacron line to secure my ham radio antennas and also for antenna guy wires for the last 40 years. You just cannot beat Dacron. it will last, last and last. I still have some that's been was out in the South Florida sun for 30 years and is still usable. Like I said, you just cannot beat Dacron.
