Nicola T: Had been looking at ways to improve security and came across the Patlock. The reviews seemed great so ordered with the company itself via Amazon. Very impressed with the service as it was free delivery but the Patlock arrived next day.

One of these things that looks a very simple idea and is easy to use - genius! Hopefully it will never be put to the test!

Mr. Ed: Just make sure you fit the door bolt guards inside the handles otherwise these can be forced off with a screw driver, good detergent however.

Yahdie: I had to return the Patlock only because even when extended to its maximum length, it was too short for my door handles (each 4.5” from cylinder to tip of lever). I’m disappointed that I now have to start a new search for a French door security device, and there doesn’t seem to be many options available. I decided to write a review because the Patlock is a great additional security measure to add to your French doors. It’s sturdy, and would have offered great protection for my home. Very easy to secure, and the release buttons make it super easy to open. No locks or screws etc. to fidget with during an emergency. I gave it 4 stars only because the manufacturer would be well served to go back to the drawing board and extend the length of the device to fit modern longer door handles.

One Stroke: This design could have been made fit any French Door setup, curved or straight, especially when using or not using the inserts. My handles are not part of an Unlatching Key/Lock setup. But they disable the door from being opened, without tearing them down, thus making a noise to wake me up in time, to greet the attacker.

CHARLOTTE: This is perfect for our front doors that open out. I reversed the lock so the deep curve is on the inside of the handle and the shallow on the out. Our handles have a slight curve to grip. These fit perfectly over our handles. I removed the inside liner too. They lock very securely and easy to use.
We feel much safer now that we know nobody can just pull open our doors.

Rich D: I just received and installed my Patlock . I have three sets of double doors . Two are the glass French Doors and one is a set of wooded double doors . I used them on my wooden doors because I had two small bolt pins that are pushed into strike plate one on the top and the other at the bottom of the door . Not to secure anyone could have kicked the doors open . There are two parts to the lock that are identical that lock into each other . To use just slip one half of the lock over your interior door handle lever and the other lock over the other handle lever and push towards each other until it locks. When you install them make sure that the cut out on each lock face the doors because it allows to to push then handles in further around the lever barrel .Push the button on both door locks at the same time and pull apart and the doors are unlocked. I tried them on my French Doors and slid on and off easier then my wooden doors . If you door handles levers have a large curve to them they might not fit . I just ordered two more for my French Doors .

Anonymous: This isn't perfect but does give me some peace of mind re the security of my French doors.

I live in the US so my french doors, like most in this country, have one working knob. (In the UK, it seems like both doors typically have working knobs. The Patlock was designed and made in the UK.)

In order to make the Patlock work, I needed to buy a "dummy knob" for the second door. Since I had Schlage locks, it was easy to find a matching "dummy knob" on Amazon that looks great.

The Patlock fits over the two knobs and does provide an additional level of security for the door. It is attractive and was easy to install and use.

I gave it four stars instead of five for a few reasons:

* It ships from the UK and took over six weeks to arrive. The seller doesn't provide any faster options and there was no tracking information available to let me know it was on the way.

* This does provide an additional level of security/deterrent, but wouldn't stop a really determined burglar. The dummy knob isn't as strong as an installed knob would be. And the additional "spindle replacement" hardware included didn't seem to work with my American handles. Still it is...
