It makes good waffles and is easy to use. I bought it to replace one without removable plates. This one allows for ease of oiling beforehand and cleaning afterward because I can take the plates out. It also helps keep the entire unit cleaner. However, after three uses, the plastic bulb covers loosened and fell out. I'm guessing the glue was not able to take the heat. (I make two batches, so I don't turn it off in-between. It does get hot.) These pieces of plastic don't pop back in place; they just fall out when the iron is turned. So now I've got to either find a glue that's heat-proof and safe or just live with the defect.
UPDATE: used epoxy on the plastic lens covers; that worked fine. Also, I do hand wash the plates, but as someone who just ruined an aluminum ice cream scoop in the dishwasher, I now realize aluminum cannot withstand the highest temp my dishwasher is currently set to. This is adjustable, but if you don't want to do that, just hand wash the plates.

MagicianerMagicianer: The light covers started falling out immediately. The little pegs that it sits on fell out and disappeared, that means the base started melting. Now a screw fell out from somewhere. The front is cracked. All around bad. The plates being easier to clean is the only redeeming quality.

Ashley: I love this waffle iron! The plates are removable for easy cleanup which was a huge selling point for me. I’ve used it about a dozen times so far and it’s still working great! The lock can be a bit stiff and one side gets hotter than the other, but not much. Otherwise the heat is distributed evenly across the plates.

This waffle maker is very easy to use and clean. The machine warms up fairly quickly. I made oreo waffles and they came out perfect! A little nonstick spray and the waffle came right off every time. I LOVE that the plates are removable so cleanup is very simple. They pop off and reattach very easily.
A few things to be aware of: there is no temperature control. I found this to be irrelevant as the waffles cooked perfectly. There were no underdone/overdone spots at all.
Also, after you make a waffle, don't bother waiting for the green light to come back on right away....sometimes it doesn't. The unit is still hot and will start cooking immediately.
Lastly, there is no timer built in to the unit. When the steam stops, start checking for doneness.
DON'T FORGET TO FLIP THE UNIT OVER AFTER YOU POUR IN THE BATTER!
I used an offset spatula to scrape any batter off that oozed out of the sides. That was my fault for overfilling.

Robert (Buff) Leboeuf: This waffle maker works perfectly for my needs. Many reviews claim that it is cheaply built and I would not disagree completely. But the features that I was looking for in a waffle maker were removable plates, a must, and be easy to clean and store. Most waffle makers that I find with removable plates are upwards of $100 or more. Granted, they are probably better built than this one but for the price I don’t think I could get a more useful appliance. Since it is not very ruggedly built it stands to reason that it should be handled a bit more gently than the big expensive guys. Treated a bit more gently, it seems to provide exactly what I was looking for. An appliance that makes good waffles, has removable plates and is easy to clean and store. If you can treat it like a small electrical appliance and not like an armored tank, I would recommend this waffle iron wholeheartedly. If not, spend another 50 bucks and get the tank.

Michael Sinz:
After some waffle making, I have come to love the simplistic design. The fact that this is a flip waffle maker (the only good way to make deep-pocket waffles) that has a simple mechanism that has less complexity and thus less parts to fail is nice.
I also really appreciated the ease of cleanup - the waffle plates come out easily and yet are held securely when in use.
For the fist use, I followed the directions of plugging it in and letting it heat up for 10 to 15 minutes to allow some of the "factory new" smell and smoke to clear before making the first waffle. Do not forget to do this as not doing that could likely impact the flavor of the first waffle.
An annoying bit is the seam between the waffle maker and the plastic that holds the waffle maker to the pivot mechanism. I wish it were molded in a bit better such that it would not have any particles at the seam. Also, the drip plate under it is just barely as large as the waffle maker. If you end up having a bit too much batter in a waffle, the drip-out could get beyond the drop plate. (We had one waffle that had a small amount of drip but that tiny amount was caught by the drip plate...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: This waffle iron had been used. It was covered in someone else's food. This latch that holds the plate in was broke. Did they really think they could pan this off on me. I am absolutely disgusted with this purchase.

Let's start with the roller ball flipper part...It has one and it is easy to use. The piece of garbage I bought at Wally world didn't have one and it broke in 2 days from simple flipping.
This has plates that are removable for cleaning! It has a built on drip pan which attaches to the roller ball which lifts off for easy cleaning!
The product works as intended and makes wonderful waffles.Well, I haven't made any waffles yet. I have only made CHAFFLES!!!!
Yes, fellow Keto'ers this machine makes a chaffle large enough to make a club, rueben, lox, whatever you want sandwich and a whole chaffle is only 2 net carbs!!!! Screw that mini waffle maker they speak of! You need to make those twice to get a sammy made. This maker will make a huge Belgium chaffle that you can cut in half for 2 meals or piggy out and still not screw up your macros!
I am in love with everything about this product! SECURA for the Keto win!!!
Buy it. You will be happy. Buy two so your husband and kids can have regular waffles. But really, the removable plates mean no carb cooties. Buy two anyway. I'm going to try my Keto cookie recipe in this. The uses are...

The manual describes your first use must be to let the manufacturing goo burn off - and it smokes A LOT. Smoked out my kitchen in Christmas Day. Much better off starting this outside with an extension chord.
Will update review after my kitchen gets the electric smoke smell out.
Several month review, casually used.
Nonstick plates are fine but heat damage to the unit. Also there is no on off switch...
Also one of the light covers melted somehow....

Peter Lucht: Heats up quickly. Ready to use in a couple of minutes. Easy to tell when ready to bake (red comes on when first plugged in then green light comes on when ready to bake. When you pour in the batter and close the lid it takes about 8 minutes to cook to a degree that I like. To make a single waffle from the Pearl Milling Co .mix that I ordered at the same time as I ordered the waffle iron I just add 1/2 cup of mix, 1/3 cup of warm water, a tablespoon of virgin olive oil and a few drops of vanilla for extra flavor. This has worked every time for me so far. I found that turning the mix 1/2 way through to be a waste of time as this batter is so thick it cooks evenly.
