Elijah M.: It's awfully heavy for not having any way to safely tap in stakes or poles.
If I was looking at bushcraft or ultralight I would NOT get this.
Don't know what you would ever use the pry bar for, I thought it was a nice addition but haven't had any use for it yet.
The spike in the back hasn't served me either.
I have a cheap short forest axe that has served me better than this for less money.
You don't need the spike, you might not need the puller.
Even if you think you'll move logs around with the spike, get an axe with a little more beard on it and hook your logs with that.

Bobby: I seen some people complain these are not sharp from the factory. Mine is. Scary sharp. Very solid well made. I am very impressed. And not terribly heavy.

Michael: Came fast. Looks great and has a nice weight to it. Not sure I like the material the handle is made out of. Feels like hard brittle plastic if that makes sense, not saying it is just feels that way. It seems like it would be very slippery when wet. Will let you know after I field test it. The blade came very sharp like razor sharp. I actually shaved off some arm hair so yep it’s sharp. After some use I can’t imagine it will stay that sharp for long. Again I will update review after I use it some. For now I would buy again and give it five stars. Was going to give a four star just for price, it seems a bit expensive but I didn’t have to buy it so to be fair five it is. Hope this helps

Graham Lee: I have had the AXE5 for roughly six months and it has lived up to my high expectations. Its a little on the pricey side, but fully worth the money. The axe is made of quality steel, keeps it edge well and easy handles camping, hiking and tasks around the house. Had a lot of fun helping my friend demolish things as he did some house renovations. I would buy again, but this thing is going to last my lifetime.

Amazon Customer: I wanted to like this. I actually really like the design. I think the only real improvement in the design would be to round the edges near the head and possibly not have the big hole in the handle. The scales on the handle are great and the shape is good. So...what sucks? Simple, the steel is advertised as a high carbon stainless. I was expecting something like condor uses or even buck. Instead, it was as bad as the straight stainless junk the fantasy blades are made out of. About 4 splits of dried pine boards and I hit a small knot. I noticed small bends in the edge. I've used hawks and axes a lot and this is unacceptable for anything but a $15 cheapie. Perhaps I got one with a bad heat treat (if there is one at all on this) but if so, the quality control is unacceptable. The two stars are for the overall design, which is outstanding. However, this should stay in the $20 and under category that are hung in the camping section of Walmart.
UPDATE: After using it for awhile and sharpening it more, I'm convinced possibly the grind was done after the heat treat and a bit of the temper was messed up. Once some of the metal is taken off, it holds the edge much better. The only...

KEN E. IIKEN E. II: This axe is made of high quality steel. It came pretty sharp right out of the box, sharp enough to cut a finger. But I sharpened it much much more then how it came. I sharpened it all the way up to about 200,000 grit with diamond spray on a leather strop and now its like a large razor blade that will cut through things very easily. It was very easy to sharpen too, if you try to sharpen it you have to hold it at a very flat angle. If it is difficult for you to find a flat angle to sharpen it at just draw a 1/8 inch thick line across the sharp edge and make sure you are sharpening the marker off. Do this for every different grit you use to sharpen the axe. If you don't you will just round over the sharp edge and you wont get it too sharp that way. This axe also seems like it will have good edge retention I don't know if it is because the steel is hard or whatever, but something makes me feel like it will hold a sharp edge for a long time. I also attached a lanyard with a noose knot to the lanyard hole in the bottom of the handle right above the pry bar that this axe has. It's good to have a lanyard just in case you get knocked out in a fight that way the axe will still be attached...

GB: The SCAXE5 is an excellent tool for your emergency kit. I don't consider this as something you would use as a camp axe, nor do I consider it a self defense hatchet or tomahawk, although it could be used for either, but it could best be described as a tactical entry and extraction tool making it perfect for an emergency kit. At just under 13 inches it is small enough to fit in a backpack, and just over 1.5 pounds, it's not too heavy either. The blade measures just over 3 inches and is made of SK5 high carbon stainless steel, and features a 1/4 inch black powder coated full tang with a nail pull / pry bar at the base of the handle. The blade came razor sharp, even shaved some arm hairs, and you can choke up high under the beard for precision detailed work. The glass filled nylon fiber handle scales are textured and contoured with a nice swell in the middle, and the handle has multiple grip sights and is angled at the bottom for better leverage on power strikes. While its not as ergonomic for using the spike, the spike does a fairly good job with minimal effort. The sheath is similar the the SOG Tactical Tomahawk, both of which I found to be flimsy and the snaps to be temperamental,...

Amazon Customer: This can be a self defense tool and a survival tool for camping and city areas. It’s also very sharp and the point on the pick side is great.
