Tom H: Arrived on time it's a big heavy chain. I have used it many times already. I like the cinch ring its very useful.
I feel confident locking my bike downtown. It's a great visual deterrent. Most people would say it's too heavy to be practical, but I really don't mind the weight. Most of all the price is ok and quality is good its hardened steel, and I can't see anyone being able to cut it with bolt cutters. Compared to a U lock it would be difficult to cut with an angle grinder. Overall, I am totally pleased with my purchase.

kyle: This Schlage lock, or should I say 'schlong' lock? It's more than just a lock; it's a symbol of security and confidence! It’s got enough length to satisfy all your needs. And the girth! The girth on this thing is unreal, making sure my bike feels safe and protected.

The hardened steel links are so tough,I doubt it could be penetrated by anything but an angle grinder.

On the down side it’s outer sheath is thin and barely protects your frames tender paint. I wrapped mine in an rubber (inner tube) to add a bit more protection. One can never be too safe.

Honestly, I'm beyond satisfied with this schlong... I mean Schlage lock! It deserves a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. In fact, I'm so thrilled with it that I'd buy it again and again and again.

Trust me, this lock will keep your beloved two-wheeler safe and sound, and maybe even give it a confidence boost. Ride on, my fellow security-conscious adventurers!

JayJay: Works amazing for locking up my Honda ruckus moped. Paired it with a kryptonite u lock and couldn’t be happier. The only downfall is the size and weight. I probably wouldn’t use it with a bicycle unless I had some serious storage capabilities. Fits great in my under seat bag on the moped.

Gonzo: I bought two of the 39" chains for locking up a generator and plate compactor. I figured I needed 4-5' chains, but the cinch ring design of the Schlage frees up a lot of wasted, looped length.

I combined the chains with Stanley CD8820 padlocks (50mm version). For the generator, the shackle was just *barely* tall enough to close with two links of the Schlage chain through it (the cinch end wrapped around a deck post, the other end wrapped around the generator frame). On the plate compactor, I didn't have enough chain length to loop through it, so I had hoped to lock the last link directly to its lift bar. Unfortunately, that bar is ever so slightly thicker than the chain links and I couldn't close the shackle, so I had to go with a longer, less secure Master Lock I had laying around. So, keep that in mind when sizing locks to the thickness of the chain.

These chains are likely to deter most thieves, just based on appearance, let alone the heat treating. I doubt they would try bolt cutters on them. I'll be doing some metal reinforcements of the deck posts to keep them from being the weak "link" to cut through. Someone would have to want the stuff real bad to bother...

InvoxicatedInvoxicated: We all know that with enough time and the correct tools nothing is impenetrable. But this chain is as close as you're going to get to stopping a perp because unless he has a lot of time and some sort of electric grinding tool and or a 5 foot bolt cutter he's not getting through this chain any time soon.
If one were going to steal something this chain is locked to, the attack point might shift to the lock or what the chain is wrapped around because this thing is an animal and it might be easier to attack a "weaker" part.
Though it's made in China it seems to be made well. There is a cover to the chain that has velcro wrapped through the link so it can't shift when you're trying to loop it through something. This was a big help because I was feeding the chain through the seat frame of my truck and it was a very tight fit. The weight alone tells you that this chain means serious business (approx 6 lbs).
If I had a complaint it would be that the black cover that covers the chain leaves too many links exposed. I understand it's like that for the ring to cinch the chain and then you lock your padlock through it but in my case it makes too much noise when I shift my gun safe...

MeanGene: At 6 pounds 12.3 ounces measured on my kitchen scale which is accurate to 1/10 of an ounce it's a hefty chain. The links are 6 sided which is suppose to require a greater amount of pressure to break the chain with a bolt cutter because the pressure of the bolt cutter blades are spread over a broader area unlike round links. Each link is 12mm side to side measured with my micrometer which is accurate to 0.001 inches which I then converted to mm. The measurement in inches was 0.474 inches so it's not quite 1/2 inch although its advertised as 1/2 inch. The chain does measure 39.5 inches in length including the cinch ring. My criteria in purchasing a chain was to have something that would most likely deter anyone wanting to steal my bicycle. The name of the game is deterrence. No lock or chain is full proof. Most thieves just want to get in and out quickly. They want the easy job, not the job that requires a lot of effort unless the pay off is also great. I decided that the minimum diameter of each link would be 12 mm after watching many Youtube videos and researching the cost of chains that are larger in diameter but of course would also weigh more.
