D: This vacuum is very heavy. Moving it back and forth takes some effort. It has pretty good suction but it does tend to scatter on hard floors. Seems well made, but after a few months it started giving off a burning scent. Also, the hose comes loose from time
to time, which affects the suction. Not worth the price.

Peter Barrett: Doesn't deal well with regular use for a supposedly commercial vacuum. It's constantly clogging, does not tolerate pet or human hair, and it eats belts like popcorn.

Overpriced and overrated. I wish I hadn't bought it.

Jack McCarter: I'm an independent vacuum technician, I do this from home. I bought mine used in September 2022, made in 2011 back when Electrolux still owned Sanitaire. Very easy for a technician to service (cleaned mine completely), and simple to perform basic maintenance on. The suction and airflow on this model is extremely impressive for a sub-$200 vacuum, stronger than any big brand vacuum I've used, and it deep cleans carpet very well. If you are an allergy sufferer like me, id recommend buying a 9 pack of H-10 Hepa Filter bags. As a vacuum technician, I would like to correct some things I've seen in other reviews.

1. The handle does not snap in to place, even on the newer models made by Bissell, there are 2 screws that secure the handle to the body.

2. Yes, this model uses bags. If you want the bagless model, look at the SC5745 and SC5845 instead.

3. The cord is supposed to be very long on these, as the are commercial vacuums.

Anyways, I would definitely recommend any Force model to anyone who has a lot of carpet in their home. The only problem I have with these is the size of attachments, but since it's a commercial machine, attachments aren't usually used in...

R S Cobblestone: This Sanitaire Force Upright Commercial Vacuum is probably the heaviest vacuum I've ever used, which surprised me, in that it is not particularly big. I wonder if the weight is linked with the "commercial" nature... as in it is meant for heavy use.

First, it is easy to assemble, and intuitive to use. The power cord is long and thick (heavy). On my other vacuum (a Simplicity Sentry), I've taken it in to the repair shop twice over the years to replace the power cord. These cords can get nicked and abraded. With this Sanitaire, the cord going into the motor is just a few inches long. The cord that plugs into the wall is actually just like an extension cord, with a connector that keeps the cords from pulling apart. This means you can replace the cord yourself, or even use a longer (or shorter) cord if needed.

The HEPA filter is washable, although I haven't used this vacuum long enough to do this. The bag is large, and the vacuum comes with one extra one-time-use replacement. There is a small brush tool for furniture, and this brush and the hose extension can be stored on the actual vacuum, meaning that they are there when you want or need them.
