Dennis: You will get wet screwing this down… your on a watercraft… if you don’t like getting wet, go play golf. This anchor is perfect, works perfect, and doesn’t destroy your plastic storage container because it stores in a cushioned storage bag. You get what you pay for…

Nancy Gioia: This work just as it should be careful though if using for a pontoon boat. Your best bet is to have 2 and always anchor the side where the wind is coming from

John: Held the ski really well. The handle set up could be a lot better. To loose to try and get the anchor started straight. A fixed attachment point would be so much easier.

This is a review of the SandShark Lite 18" Sand Anchor.
First off…this is an amazing tool for anchoring your light water craft to the shoreline or shallow sandbar!
There’s a lot of room for enhancements though:
The anchor comes in 2 parts; the shaft and the handle. Although the handle inserts through the islet of the shaft to allow for the turning of the anchor into the sand as a torquing device it could be improved. There is lateral play in the handle when twisting the shaft. I think a better solution would be a cap head screw handle which threads into the shaft allowing a precise fit and no lateral play in the handle when turning.
The anchor shaft has a length of 18” which is great for shoreline or an exposed sandbar, but in a sandbar situation where the depth is over a couple feet you might have to dive under to twist the anchor into the sand. A screw-able shaft extension or longer shaft option would be a great enhancement to allow for a deeper water level should that be the case. I had mine anchor in about 3 feet of water and had to put on my mask to dive under to screw the anchor into the sand as my arms could not reach the...

I kayak a lot and on sand bars or shallow water with fast currents, my grapnel style anchor never held my boat in place. It would always drift. I decided to give this anchor a shot and it is fantastic! Easy to auger into the sand, holds my kayak along with my friend's yak in place, and is really high quality. I recently capsized my kayak and lost the straight bar portion of the anchor and when I contacted Sand Shark, the offered to ship me one free of charge. I am very happy with this purchase.
I was fully aware how long the anchor was when I purchased so I do not see any sense in deducting stars based on you may get a bit wet using the anchor if the tide comes in. It is wonderful for any shallow sandy areas or even the beach as the tide is coming in. This thing is great and is built to last forever.

Christian Madsen: I bought this as an anchor for self-launching my kite when I go kite surfing. This generates a lot of power on the anchor. I've bought two other anchors from other vendors previously with a spiral design and they were difficult to set in the sand and came out easily. This anchor was easy to screw into the sand and rock solid when I launched. So the design is good. Recommended.
